Fans of Demon Slayer are waiting patiently waiting for its third season, speculated to be coming in late 2023 and depicting the Swordsmith Village Arc. In the meantime, many have turned to similar anime in the genre, such as Jujutsu Kaisen, which is greatly anticipated and confirmed for another season this winter.

As the manga and anime progress, viewers have met an impressive number of distinct members of the Demon Slayer Corps, often questioning which character they see themselves in. Using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, acquiring the inarguable answer has never been easier. From the mysterious Shinobu to the confident Rengoku, where do the most favorited heroes fall on the MBTI scale?

Kagaya Ubuyashiki – INFJ

Kagaya Ubuyashiki Demon Slayer

The soft-spoken and highly respected leader of the Demon Slayers Corps, Oyakata-sama, is looked up to like most INFJ folks are. As The Advocate of the MBTI types, he easily accepted Nezuko and Tanjiro’s mission, despite her being a demon.

The once-protector may not be able to fight alongside the slayers anymore due to the curse put upon him, but he certainly makes up for it by inspiring the Pillars and influencing those around him, like the INFJ type. His immensely empathetic nature and idealistic way of thinking only further prove the kind of man he is.

Mitsuri Kanroji – INFP

Mitsuri Kanroji Demon Slayer

The ever-caring INFP personality has no problem seeing the good in everybody, regardless of their outer exterior, Mitsuri being this type to a T. However, she’s no push-over, able to take down demons and defend those most needing of her protection.

Her introversion and gung-ho inner dialogue contrast each other in a totally unique way, causing people to gravitate towards her, especially fans with the same Myers-Brigg type. The Love Hashira lives up to her breathing form, constantly caring for the well-being of nearly everyone around her.

Kanao Tsuyuri – ISFJ

Kanao Tsuyuri Demon Slayer

Kanao may not say much, but her kind eyes tell it all. She represses her emotions to a fault, a common trait among ISFJ people, but this makes killing demons a breeze for her and increases her value in battle.

The girl has a distinct strength to her that no other Demon Slayer has, validating the uniqueness of the MBTI. Indecisive yet dedicated, Kanao pushes herself past her limits to do her job right. She also has an analytical side to her, just like ISFJs, keeping her choice moves in a fight straight as an arrow.

Shinobu Kocho – INTJ

Shinobu sticking a sword to her chest in Demon Slayer

Despite her devastation at the loss of her beloved sister and her lust for vengeance, Shinobu does her best to smile as much as she can, characteristic of INTJs. Masking her darker emotions, she instead gathers this negative energy to use against demons in battle.

Like many INTJs, the Insect Hashira is heavily strategic and innovative, which is seen when she must find another way to destroy demons, lacking the physical strength to decapite them. Persevering similarly those under the MBTI type, the fan-favorite Pillar surpasses this fault by using wisteria poison on her sword to eliminate disgusting demons in a flash.

Giyu Tomioka – ISTJ

Giyu Tomioka Demon Slayer

Carrying with him a strong sense of justice and an analytical mindset of ISTJs, the Water Hashira is the sole reason Nezuko was given an extra chance to prove her still-intact humanity after being turned into a demon.

ISTJ people secretly care how others view them much more than they let on, similar to Giyu, but still come across as very introverted. With one of the strongest breathing forms in Demon Slayer, both the Giyu and the Myers-Brigg type are known for being dependable, striving to never let those who trust them down.

Kyojuro Rengoku – ESTP

The Flame Hashira Rengoku in Demon Slayer: Mugen Train key art.

One of the strongest Hashira in Demon Slayer with the spontaneity of an ESTP is none other than Rengoku himself. Optimistic and burning with passion, the Fire Pillar mirrors the traits of his MBTI type naturally.

Many ESTPs are admired for the self-discipline, responsibly watching over the innocent while going above and beyond to fight off demons, like Rengoku in the Demon Train Arc as he fought an onslaught of demons. His enthusiasm sometime borders insanity, but this is exactly what fans adore him for.

Zenitsu Agatsuma – ENTP

Zenitsu Agatsuma Demon Slayer

ENTP assignees are known for being incredibly human both inside and out, the same can be said for Zenitsu. Viewing himself as weak and not long for this world due to the hazards of becoming a Demon Slayer, he portrays himself as a coward more times than not.

Ironically, it is when he is asleep that he is his most powerful, using the Breath of Thunder form and instantly becoming a force to be reckoned with until he is awoken. Like his Myers-Brigg type, he tries to sell himself to those around him (specifically women) and tries his hardest to help others, overcoming his crippling fear of demons in the process.

Inosuke Hashibira – ESFP

Inosuke wielding two swords in Demon Slayer.

There’s no one as outgoing and competitive as the lovable Inosuke, as well as those under the ESFP type. His over-enthusiastic energy draws people to him effortlessly, craving the spotlight every second he is in action as one of the funniest comic relief characters.

Like his MBTI, the boar-headed Demon Slayer doesn’t hesitate to be the first one to draw his swords, eager to prove himself and unleash his power on the nearest foe. He bores easily and can be wholly entertaining to watch due to his over-the-top mannerisms, completely engulfed in his own excitement to the point of fault.

Nezuko Kamado – ISFJ

Nezuko Kamado Demon Slayer

Like Kanao, Nezuko is a kind yet timid girl, before and after becoming a demon. However, they are fundamentally different since Sakonji Urokodaki made Nezuko view humans as family, which is why she is protective of them while still being a demon.

These traits often occur in people of the ISFJ type (minus the demon part of course), being personable even though they are extremely introverted. Always ready to defend her loved ones, Nezuko proves her loyalty when she is tested to see if she would eat the eccentric Wind Pillar, Sanemi Shinazugawa, after cutting himself to tempt her with his blood.

Tanjiro Kamado – ENFJ

Tanjiro wielding his sword preparing to defeat Rui in Demon Slayer episode 19.

Predictably, the Protagonist MBTI type fits Tanjiro through and through. As a gentle and caring guy with a priceless ability to connect with everyone surrounding him, like ENFJs, Tanjiro even empathizes with demons.

This is depicted well when he sees the creatures as victims of terrible circumstance, often guiding them to ask for forgiveness before slaying them. Idealistic as he is thoughtful, the ENFJ never gives up on a loved one no matter what and feels he should serve a greater purpose in life, as seen when he gives Nezuko the benefit of the doubt after turning into a demon.
