After the conclusion of the second season of Demon Slayer the action-packed shounen anime that takes place in a demon-infested version of Taisho-era Japan, fans are in for a wait for season 3. From the outset, Tanjiro is a memorable protagonist, heroic and kind, but the unusual and sometimes hapless characters he meets are often just as significant.
With such a cast, fans may find they have an affinity with some characters more than others and the traits and personalities of the Demon Slayer characters make them ideally suited for matching with the signs of the zodiac.
Aries - Hashibira Inosuke
For an Aries, there is hardly anything that motivates them as much as competition and so the fiercely competitive Inosuke is the perfect match. Whether it's strength, demon-slaying ability, or even just forehead-toughness, Inosuke will turn anything into a competition and then go all-out in his efforts to win.
While Inosuke doesn't have the best character arc in Demon Slayer, another side of him is shown when he loses confidence in his abilities and is forced to rely on his friends. There is a loyalty and honesty that is fundamental to Inosuke's character and, even though he spends most of the time acting like a fool, it shines through when it counts.
Taurus - Kyojuro Rengoku
The Hashira are all incredibly strong in their own way but Rengoku immediately stood out for his charisma and fiery color palette. Like members of the Taurus zodiac sign, the Flame Hashira is an amazing ally and friend, an anchor of calm and self-confidence that helps give others strength.
The true extent of Rengoku's heroic and selfless nature became clear in his starring role in Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, one of the best anime films of 2020. Rengoku isn't all work and no play however, as his love of food reflects the Taurus trait of tending to seek out the sensual pleasures that life has to offer.
Gemini - Shinobu Kocho
A sign associated with intelligence, Gemini is perfectly suited to the Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho. Lacking the strength to behead a demon the traditional way, Shinobu developed her own fighting style that involves finding ways to inject a deadly toxin into the demon in order to eliminate it.
Shinobu also shows her emotional intelligence in social situations, retaining a calm air and a smile regardless of the circumstances. Though Tanjiro is able to detect the anger beneath her serene exterior due to his sense of smell, she is skilled at using her social awareness to ensure she's always on the right side of situations.
Cancer - Sakonji Urokodaki
Though he had already retired from the Demon Slayer Corps by the time of the first season of Demon Slayer, Urokodaki continues to use his skills to train others in the art of Water Breathing albeit begrudgingly. The former Hashira shares the intuitive nature of the Crab and, whilst this is mostly to his advantage, it can cause him to underestimate others.
For the same reason, Urokodaki doesn't have much time for nonsense and his prickly nature can make him seem harsh at times. In reality, Urokodaki is kind and has a nurturing streak that makes him a great mentor.
Leo - Tanjiro Kamado
Tanjiro encapsulates the best aspects of the Leo sign of the zodiac. Brave and warm, everything Tanjiro does is motivated by his love for his family and those around him. Because of this, he works incredibly hard to gain the strength he needs to fight and never doubts that doing so is the right thing to do.
Leos are often blessed with self-confidence and, though Tanjiro doubts himself like everyone at times, he never gives up when he knows he has a chance at success. Tanjiro also thrives in social interactions, displaying a charisma and kindness that makes him attract friends and allies easily.
Virgo - Kagaya Ubuyashiki
Virgo is a sign that is known for producing amazing friends and it's difficult to think of a character from Demon Slayer who would make a better friend than the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps. Kagaya Ubuyashiki is already being consumed by a deadly curse when Tanjiro meets him but remains calm and empathetic.
Like Virgos, Kagaya is the best person to go to for advice, offering a kind and balanced viewpoint. His intelligence and selflessness help make Kagaya a great leader for the Demon Slayers, as does his ability to see the bigger picture during tough debates and difficult decisions.
Libra - Kanao Tsuyuri
After a traumatic past left her silent and passive, Kanao Tsuyuri has a habit of leaving important decisions up to the toss of a coin. Despite this, there is a strength to the young Demon Slayer that allowed her to learn Flower Breathing from her adopted older sister and take on the trial independently.
Like those in the Libra sign, Kanao has to put up with the assumptions people make based on her passive outward appearance that makes it seem like she is never quite present. Though she is still tentative to rely on others, she can get a lot out of her relationships with them if she allows it.
Scorpio - Obanai Iguro
Like those in the Scorpio astrological sign, the Serpent Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps is no stranger to conflict. Obanai puts just as much energy and strictness into his close interpersonal relationships as his clashes with enemies on the battlefield. Compromise isn't a word in Obanai's vocabulary.
His harsh nature makes him one of the least likable of the Demon Slayer Hashira but his singlemindedness is admirable in its own way. Obanai's passion and independence mean he is a strong ally, regardless of the tension he can bring with his high expectations of others.
Sagittarius - Nezuko Kamado
Sagittarius is associated with a unique strength of will that sets them apart from the other signs. As soon as Nezuko transforms into a demon, it seems as though she will be lost to the blood lust and animal instinct that comes along with it. When she resists the urge to kill Tanjiro, she proves just how strong her willpower is.
Though the transformation changes her personality, the caring and protective nature that makes her correspond so well with the Sagittarius sign is still present. Urukodaki's work in convincing her to see her beloved family in the faces of humans she doesn't know is what allows her to hold back her demonic urges.
Capricorn - Muzan Kibutsuji
Capricorns possess admirable traits that can help them achieve even the most ambitious of goals. This can be channeled towards manifesting positive change in the world but of course, as is the case with Muzan Kibutsuji, it can also be channeled towards a goal that is truly abhorrent.
The leader and propagator of the demon crisis that is causing so much terror and tragedy for humans is highly intelligent and thrives off the hierarchy he creates in the form of the Twelve Kizuki. He is a perfectionist and accepts nothing less from himself and others.
Aquarius - Giyu Tomioka
As the serving Water Hashira, capable of using Water Breathing in ways most other Demon Slayers can only dream of, no one is more appropriate for the Aquarius sign than Giyu Tomioka. Giyu is independent and likes to do things his own way, which can make him somewhat of an enigma as well as a social outcast.
However, as is often the case with Aquarius, Giyu has a strong sense of justice and is in his element fighting for what he believes is right. The character comes into his own when launching into powerful and beautiful attacks to devastate his foes, which is complemented by the fact that Demon Slayer is one of the best-looking anime.
Pisces - Zenitsu Agatsuma
Zenitsu is perhaps the most emotionally-driven character in Demon Slayer because, as is typical of the Pisces astrological sign, he is nearly always driven by instinct. Whether it's his instinct to run from danger or his instinct to chase girls, Zenitsu follows his gut.
Despite that, Zenitsu isn't stupid, and nor is he incompetent. Whilst his outward reputation may suffer for his impulsiveness, his commitment and loyalty mean he is a powerful ally to his friends, though they may not always quite understand how.
