Salvage Operations in Deep Rock Galactic are a multi-stage mission type. The missions start with exploration and end with epic standoffs with hordes of spider monsters deep beneath the surface of Hoxxes IV. Players must complete each of the stages of the mission in sequence, and there are several failure points along the way.

The team will need to repair robots and communication uplinks and refuel the Drop Pod before they can return to the Space Rig. The objectives of Salvage Operations change most of any of the mission types in Deep Rock Galactic.

How to Complete a Salvage Operation in Deep Rock Galactic

When the dwarves exit the Drop Pod, they’ll need to start exploring the cavern looking for broken mini-M.U.L.E.s. There are between two and three M.U.L.E.s to discover depending on the size and hazard level of the mission. Players should listen for beeping noises and look for a beacon that glows green. That’s their clue that a mini-M.U.L.E. is nearby. Once located, the next step is to find three legs scattered in the vicinity and reattach them to the little robot. There are usually four legs in the vicinity, so it shouldn’t be hard to locate them and bring them back for reattachment. Once repaired, the mini-M.U.L.E. will tag along on the hunt for more to repair.

After all of the little robots are up and running again, Molly will have a button activate. Pressing this will trigger the next stage of the operation. The communications uplink to a nearby Drop Pod needs to be repaired so the company can triangulate the team’s position. Starting the uplink process only requires a button press, but it triggers an attack by a swarm of monsters. Making things more complicated, at least one member of the team must stay within proximity of the uplink, which is designated by a green circle. If no one is in the uplink perimeter or is downed, then progress will decay. If all of the progress disappears, the mission fails.

After re-establishing a communications uplink, players need to refuel the Drop Pod. The company sends a fuel pod down. The dwarves now have to connect the fuel pod to the Drop Pod by building a short pipeline. Once connected, the refueling process begins, and the players must defend a small perimeter again, also marked by a green sphere. After refueling, the players have to defend their position for a while longer before the final prep is completed on the newly repaired and refueled Drop Pod. At the end of it all, the dwarves can hop on board and head back to the Space Rig, mission accomplished.

Salvage Operations in Deep Rock Galactic are a combat-heavy mission type, complicated by the imposed perimeter defense portion of the operation. However, with the right upgrades, and careful teamwork, they can be very rewarding and lucrative expeditions and are absolutely worth attempting.
