Warning! Contains a preview for Shadow War Zone #1

In a new preview for DC Comics' Shadow War Zone #1, it looks as though Deathstroke has found himself a new nemesis (who has what it takes to kill him). While Slade Wilson may be one of the most deadly mercenaries in the entire DC Universe, he's ended up in the sights of the Black Canary herself. One of the most experienced fighters and heroes of the Justice League, Dinah Lance is determined to get some well-deserved payback in this upcoming issue.

In previous issues of Deathstroke Inc., Slade and Dinah were actually working together for the organization known as T.R.U.S.T. However, it was eventually revealed that the group was simply a front for the Secret Society of Supervillains. Upon this discovery, Slade killed the Society's leadership. Deathstroke then became King of the Supervillains and betrayed Canary after she refused to join him. While Dinah managed to escape, it seems as though Black Canary wants to bring Slade to justice now that the Shadow War has begun with Deathstroke's alleged murder of Ra's al Ghul.

In the new preview for Shadow War Zone #1 from Joshua Williamson and Otto Schmidt, Black Canary has decided that enough is enough. Conceding that Deathstroke has always been awful, Dinah confirms to Barbara Gordon's Oracle that something has changed that's made Slade even more unhinged and dangerous than usual. As such, Black Canary believes she should've killed Deathstroke when she had the chance. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

SHADOW WAR ZONE #1- OLD FRIENDS / INNER DEMON / PANIC ROOM / NINJAS! AT THE ARCADE

A special issue that showcases the spread and impact of the Shadow War on the DCU! Talia al Ghul has put out a hit on anyone who has ever worked with Deathstroke—and that includes Black Canary! Where has Luke Fox been? Talia is sick of watching from the sidelines and joins the battle herself! Also featuring the new villain Angel Breaker! What is her connection to Ghost-Maker?

While Black Canary's story is just one out of a handful featured in this new anthology issue, it does look like it will be one of the most important. While Black Canary seemingly wants some revenge on Deathstroke, the synopsis reveals that Talia al Ghul has ordered hits on anyone who ever worked with Slade in the past, including Dinah herself. Running into the new assassin Angel Breaker, perhaps Canary will be able to explain her intentions and the two will team up? If anyone can kill Deathstroke it'd be Black Canary and her sonic scream (she nearly succeeded in Deathstroke Inc. #4).

At any rate, it's going to be exciting to see if Black Canary will actually get her rematch with Deathstroke or if she'll be forced to go on the run due to her past association with the deadly mercenary. While some payback for Black Canary would be nice after Deathstroke's brutal betrayal, Dinah will likely have to get in line following Talia and Damian Wayne who are both seeking vengeance for Ra's al Ghul's murder. Fans will just have to wait and see how Black Canary's journey plays out when the full Shadow War Zone #1 releases on May 17th.
