Get Used to Timing and Dodging in Death’s Door

Death's Door King of the Swamp Boss

The combat mechanics are not particularly difficult in Death's Door, but timing will be everything. Crow has access to a handful of abilities like a melee attack and a dodge roll, but the most effective form of fighting usually involves timing attacks and running around the enemy to find an opening for attack. This is especially true in the eight Death's Door boss fights, where players are advised to watch for a bit as they memorize the boss’s visual tells and battle tactics.

Even in normal combat conditions, players may want to get used to moving around as they dispatch one enemy after the other. Some important things to remember are that Crow’s magic meter can be refilled by using melee attacks and that they have a charged attack that differs in timing and distance depending on which weapon they choose to use.

Locate and Explore Shrines in Death’s Door

Exploration is one of Death's Door's main focuses, and players will need to search to find hidden areas, boss rooms, collectibles, and other secrets. If players find they need a few hints about where to look next, they should try talking Jefferson in the Stranded Sailor. He can be found by activating the door by the ship’s entrance.

One notable thing players should keep an eye out for are circular stones. These stones are usually large and look exceptionally sturdy, and they usually open hidden tunnels that can lead to entirely unknown sections of the map. To access these tunnels, players will need to climb an elevated platform and jump toward the stone on the ground below while performing an attack. This should help build up some momentum that will allow Crow to get through the stone entrance and into the tunnel.

Players should also try to locate the various shrines scattered across the game. Shrines hold vitality or magic crystals. These crystals can be collected to increase Crow’s max vitality and magic respectively. Players must collect four of either type of crystal to receive the stat increase.

Collect and Plant Life Seeds in Death’s Door

Death's Door Life Seed

While traveling through the world of Death's Door, players may come across an item known as a life seed. When planted inside one of the life pots scattered throughout the map, these life seeds produce a special flower that can restore Crow to full health. Having a way to restore full health can be valuable while players explore or when they intend to enter a difficult boss fight, so players are advised to be strategic when choosing where to plant a life seed. Life flowers continually regrow, so players can essentially use them as permanent healing stations. The flower will wilt after each use and can only regrow over a substantial amount of time, so players will also want to be strategic about when and how they use them.

If players are having a hard time finding more life seeds, they can talk to Pothead at the Secret Garden area. He can give hints about where players should look to find other life seeds and life pots.
