Deathloop is a first-person shooter adventure where players can explore the Isle of Blackreef to uncover its mysteries and defeat powerful enemies. Players can expect to solve complex mysteries, such as the Updaam Cave Safe, while they fight to break the time loop. Colt, on his mission to end the loop, must use every weapon and special ability available to defeat his enemies.

Throughout the game, players will follow leads and hunt down Visionaries. After assassinating them, Colt can collect their various Slabs and weapons, such as Harriet's Fourpounder Pistol. In addition to the Slab that Colt starts with, there are 5 other Slabs to collect from Visionaries and upgrade. There are a few Visionaries that don't drop Slabs, but the majority of them will give Colt a new or upgraded ability to use.

Slabs can be collected from Egor Serling (Aether), Fia Zborowska (Havoc), Harriet Morse (Nexus), Charlie Montague (Shift), and Aleksis Dorsey (Karnesis) in Deathloop. Both playable characters, Colt and Julianna, also have their own unique Slabs, but they can't be used by each other and won't drop when they are killed. The other 2 Visionaries, Frank Spicer and Dr. Wenjie Evans, will not drop Slabs. In order to upgrade the Slabs, players will need to unlock the ability to keep items when the loop is reset, then track down the Visionary with the Slab they want to upgrade, and kill them again.

Every Slab Upgrade in Deathloop

Deathloop - Nexus Power

Each of the 5 obtainable Slabs can be upgraded 4 times. Upgrading Slabs means using Residuum to infuse the Slab so it doesn't disappear when the loop is reset. To unlock infusion, players must complete the Ubiquity Visionary lead and kill Dr. Wenjie. After a Slab is infused, players can kill the Visionary that owned the Slab again and get the next upgrade for it. Alternatively, if Julianna is killed she will drop a random upgrade.

Shift: Teleportation

  • Reach - Grants the ability to travel further
  • Airborne - Briefly halts falling
  • Dropkick - While shifting, kicking will produce a sonic boom dealing more damage
  • Swapper - Switch positions with a target enemy

Aether: Invisibility

  • Ghost - Aether will not consume power while standing still
  • Erase - No trace will be left when killing an enemy with Aether active
  • Flicker - Attacking will not cause Aether to be halted (after fighting players will return to being invisible)
  • Phase - Taking damage is reduced and no longer deactivates Aether
Deathloop PS5 Exclusivity Ends In Sept 2022

Karnesis: Telekinesis

  • Flesh Bomb - Thrown enemies will release a damage-dealing blast when they land
  • Zone - Knock all enemies within range
  • Slam - Hurl enemies to the ground that are already affected by Karnesis
  • Suspension - Enemies affected by Karnesis will be suspended in the air

Havoc: Super Strength

  • Withdrawal - Power will be regained when damaging enemies with Havoc
  • Euphoria - Damage dealt will increase in tandem with damage received
  • Backlash - Release a powerful blast when Havoc times out
  • Bulwark - Hits no longer drain power, but Havoc will deplete power quicker and causes the player to move slower

Nexus: Chain Enemies

  • Protraction - Reduces the rate of power drain
  • Attraction - Nexus projectiles move towards targets and cause them to become unstable
  • Parasite - Regain health when dealing damage to an enemy affected by Nexus
  • Influence - Enemies affected by Nexus will randomly create additional chains

Upgrading Slabs can be very useful for progressing through Deathloop and giving Colt an advantage over his enemies. Players will need to collect Residuum to infuse Slabs and keep them when the loop resets. Each of the Slabs has unique and powerful upgrades that can make it much easier to fight Eternalists, take out Visionaries, and reach the end of Deathloop.
