Players can solve mysteries and prevent their ultimate demise by reliving the same day and uncovering secrets in Deathloop. The main character, Colt Vahn, is stuck in a time loop and wakes up at the beginning of the same day each time he dies. Progressing in the game means players must solve puzzles, gather information, and use the advantages of being caught in a loop to defeat their enemies.

Deathloop contains a large number of mysteries to be solved at various times during the loop. Some have key items that move the main story along, while other puzzles have no reward at all. One example is the Queen of Riddles puzzle found in Karl's Bay. Completing this event will advance the progress of the trophy associated with it.

The Yerhva machine is located in the Karl's Bay area of Deathloop. Players will enter the Queen of Riddles door, defeat any enemies inside, and approach Yerhva, an automaton meant to test their knowledge. There are a total of 10 questions, and a panel on the machine will light up for each correct answer. Although there is no reward for answering all of Yerhva's questions correctly, completing the puzzle is a requirement for the Charlie Montague Game trophy.

The Yerhva will ask players 10 trivia questions about the history and residents of the Isle of Blackreef. Yerhva's riddles vary in complexity, and players will have to come back on a new day if they give an incorrect answer. The questions are in random order but the same 10 questions will always be asked, and the answers are in the same order. Below are all of Yerhva's riddles and the correct answers:

  • Blackreef boasts a bountiful feast for the senses. Which transcendent work towers above the island’s myriad other artistic pursuits? Answer: The nose, chin, and eyes of Charlie Montague (7)
  • The wriggling, writhing energies of the Loop have been harnessed to gift us with abilities beyond our biological potential. What birthed our trinkets and slabs? Answer: Wenjie Evans personally engineered each one (7)
  • Before AEON’s arrival, Blackreef slept in frozen utero, awaiting new purpose. Who then made landfall, reawakening her from slumber? Answer: Colt Vahn and Egor Serling, on a voyage of discovery (2)

  • Sink your toes into the dark earth and let the vibrations of her voice course through your bones. From whence did this island derive her name? Answer: Coastal coral formations (8)

Along with Deathloop's Yerhva puzzle, players must finish Charlie's Wake-Up Challenge, Reward Scheme, Haul-A-Quinn, and the Moxie in order to complete the Charlie Montague Game trophy. The machine doesn't offer any other reward, so players can play through the game without ever answering Yerhva's riddles, but completionists will want to stop by and test their knowledge.
