A new Death Stranding launch trailer debuted today on official PlayStation channels, but fans will want to be cautious when deciding whether or not to view it, as it seems to contain a lot of potential spoilers for the game's story, shedding light on characters and their interactions with each other in a way that hasn't been explored previously. Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima's first game since departing Konami and has been in development for years, with hype reaching incredible levels just weeks before the game's launch.

Some of that hype has been manufactured by Kojima himself, who suggested that Death Stranding could be the birth of an entirely new genre in video games. Kojima's reputation as a visionary within the industry is well-known and that, coupled with the fact that celebrities and other developers who have gone hands-on with the title have come away with huge amounts of praise, has led to Death Stranding being tagged for greatness despite an obscure story and innovative but hard to judge gameplay sequences. It's certainly not hyperbolic to refer to Death Stranding as one of, if not the, biggest releases of the year for gaming, and part of the appeal has been the extremely mysterious machinations behind its compelling world.

The new Death Stranding launch trailer doesn't seem to outright spoil anything - the video assembles a bunch of clips from what appear to largely be cutscenes without the kind of context that would really give the story away. Still, though, the trailer is by far one of the most exciting glimpses into the game that has been released yet and, with so many new looks at characters and how they interact, it's very likely the spoilers are there somewhere. For fans who want to go into the game as in-the-dark as possible, the Death Stranding launch trailer is probably best avoided, even if it is really, really good. For those willing to take a look, here's the trailer in question:

There seem to be some very climactic moments occurring throughout the trailer involving major characters, which is why it seems like there are some big spoilers being put on display, even if fans might not know exactly what leads to them. With that said, Death Stranding is a pretty mysterious game, so it's possible that fans and critics are misinterpreting what they're seeing. What's obvious in the trailer, though, is how gorgeous the game looks and how amazing the acting in it truly is, two qualities that were never really in question but have been affirmed all the same with the Death Stranding launch trailer.

With the game just over a week away, more news regarding Death Stranding is sure to break soon. Those looking to avoid any story info will probably have their work cut out for them as fans begin really digging into the new Death Stranding launch trailer and what it could mean for the game's overall narrative.
