A Death Stranding parody game called Walking Simulator is a hilarious look at life on a post-apocalyptic Earth after World War III and the coronavirus devastated the planet. Many critics and gamers have praised Death Stranding for its unique gameplay, as well as how it defined a new genre. That doesn't mean there aren't repetitive elements, though, especially when it comes to the sheer amount of walking involved in the game.

In Death Stranding, the protagonist's primary goal is to deliver packages to remote outposts and shelters where the last of humanity has holed up after an apocalyptic event. There is a lot of walking in Death Stranding, especially in the beginning. Although Sam can use trikes and trucks later on in the game, some outposts are too remote for vehicles, meaning players must climb mountains and trudge through dangerous weather on foot. As a result, many players found the sheer amount of walking in the game somewhat offputting and began to refer to the title as a walking simulator. One Death Stranding player even figured out how to turn his treadmill into a controller, using the in-game walking to get in shape.

Game developer Pugscape decided to run with the walking concept and created a parody Death Stranding game titled Walking Simulator. The game, which is now available on Steam, offers players a chance to step into the shoes of the "last post carrier tasked to get parcels from point A to B in the most barren and desolate places on earth." The game's dystopian setting occurs after "World War III and the coronavirus destroyed the civilized world." A hilarious trailer shows just how ridiculous all the walking and package-carrying can get:

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, and Walking Simulator shows how much of a mark Death Stranding left on those who played it, as well as on the gaming industry. Death Stranding is also about to get an entirely new audience, too, thanks to a PC release on June 2, 2020, which will add some new cosmetic additions straight out of Half-Life 2.

Although the trailer for Walking Simulator is entertaining, fans shouldn't overlook its reviews. They all hilariously play along into the joke, with some mentioning they liked the part of the game with the walking, with others suggesting it needs even more walking. The game is free to play, so it's probably a good download for anyone who wants to have a little fun at Death Stranding's expense.
