Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile, the director’s follow-up to last year’s Murder on the Orient Express. Gadot shot to international fame on the heels of her performance as Diana Prince in 2017’s Wonder Woman, a worldwide blockbuster with $821 in box office grosses.

Coming off her star-shot performance in Wonder Woman, Gadot has already booked a part alongside Dwayne Johnson in the international action-comedy thriller Red Notice. Gadot will also portray fabled movie star/inventor Hedy Lamarr in a limited series being developed by Showtime. And of course, Gadot will return as Diana Prince in Wonder Woman 1984, the follow-up to the movie that broke open her career.

In addition to the above-listed projects, Gadot now will also reportedly hop aboard Fox’s Agatha Christie adaptation Death on the Nile (via Deadline). Gadot is set to play Linnet Ridgeway Doyle, a wealthy heiress who kicks off the story’s plot when she asks famed detective Hercule Poirot to help her deal with a fellow socialite who has been stalking her. From there, Doyle and Poirot become embroiled in a murder mystery set aboard the steamer "Karnak" as it sets off on a tour of the Nile.

Death on the Nile is set to feature the same ensemble acting and old school mystery storytelling as Murder on the Orient Express, last year’s Christie adaptation that went on to gross $352 million worldwide. Orient Express helmer Branagh returns to direct what is essentially a sequel, and will likely return as detective Hercule Poirot though that has not yet been confirmed. Gadot is in fact the first cast member locked down for the film, but she will certainly not be the last big name to hop aboard for a murder-plagued tour of the exotic Nile River. Express was largely fueled by its big name cast which included Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Josh Gad and many others.

After proving her action hero chops with Wonder Woman, Gadot seems ready to try her hand at some more sedate period filmmaking, with roles in Death on the Nile and the Hedy Lamarr series. But of course, Gadot won’t entirely step away from action as she will also be back as Diana Prince in the Wonder Woman sequel, and will team with action man Johnson in Red Notice. It will be interesting to see what other big names join Gadot in Death on the Nile. The film is expected to begin shooting in Spring 2019.
