Warning: contains spoilers for Wolverine #13!

Deadpool is known for being irreverent, and his behavior at the X-Men's Hellfire Gala is no exception. Wolverine #13 shows the Merc with a Mouth returning as a thorn in the X-Men's side. However, when the Terra Verde delegates transform into monsters, he ends up being a useful ally - though not without raising a few eyebrows with the reveal of a truly disgusting ability.

The Hellfire gala is the biggest social event of the year and it has been much anticipated, but with the party in full swing, it's no surprise that there would be some trouble. In X-Force #20, Deadpool tried to force his way into the party. He briefly fought Wolverine before being subdued by Domino. However, Deadpool's no quitter, so naturally, he's back in Wolverine #13, and trying to weasel his way into the party. The issue comes from Benjamin Percy, Scot Eaton, Oren Junior, Matthew Wilson, and VC's Cory Petit.

Captured by the Terra Verdeans - who are rebelling against X-Force leader Beast's hijacking of their bodily autonomy - Domino finds herself in a tough spot. Thankfully, somebody is ready to come to her aid. Unfortunately, that somebody is Deadpool. The trouble-maker has recovered from Domino's brutal takedown and is ready to invite himself to the party again, but this time he has a hell of an argument for being let in. Despite swimming to Krakoa with the aid of a rubber ring, Deadpool is somehow in possession of an RPG, and pointing it squarely at the plant-based monsters assaulting the Hellfire Gala. Although he brings in the big guns to save the day, his method of being able to bring them is incredibly questionable, but it is the exact thing Deadpool would do. When asked by Domino where he got the RPG, he reveals his secret stash, saying, "oh, you'd be amazed what I can fit up my butt."

As disgusting as this is, it is completely on point for the character. It is also one of the only things that would make sense in this scenario. Deadpool has been known to stash his weapons in different branches of Frozen Tasteland - an ice cream store chain - all around America so he has easy access to weapons wherever he ends up, but it is doubtful that the chain has been able to expand to Krakoa. Therefore, everything he has is just what he's able to carry. Sure, pouches come in handy for the small stuff, but for the big guns, more space is definitely needed, and Deadpool has a disgusting but clearly effective solution.

While utterly grotesque and highly disturbing, fans of Wade Wilson shouldn't be the least bit surprised. This is on-brand Deadpool at his finest. The more surprising thing is really that he hasn't mentioned doing this any sooner. When stealth and speed are needed to reach a destination, it doesn't make sense to pack a large luggage. This also suggests just how high Deadpool's desire to check out Krakoa is, though it's also likely that Wade's healing factor plays a part in his willingness to risk this particular storage solution.

The Merc with a Mouth has been mentioning wanting to visit Krakoa as an "honorary mutant" since the start of his reign as the King of the Monsters in Deadpool (2019-2020), and Wolverine #13 sees him get his wish after helping out with the Terra Verde attack. Deadpool is rewarded for assisting X-Force - a team on which he previously had a significant tenure alongside Wolverine - being allowed to knock back a few drinks at the Gala, so clearly his newly revealed ability is one that paid off for him. The Hellfire Gala was all about building bridges and fresh alliances for mutantkind, and as gross as Deadpool's defense of Krakoa turned out to be, Wolverine and X-Force are smart enough to recognize that it's better to have the Merc with a Mouth in your corner than fighting against you - especially given his willingness to embrace tactics no-one else would even think to try.
