Deadpool's romantic life has just got a tad more interesting. Marvel Comics has teased a brand new romance for the Merc with a Mouth with a character who's a perfect fit for the antihero. In the latest issue of Deadpool, Wade Wilson shares a touching moment with the monster hunter, Elsa Bloodstone.

In the Deadpool movie franchise, the titular hero's heart belongs to his fiancee Vanessa. In the comics, writers have explored other romantic partners for Deadpool, including some seriously strange choices, like the embodiment of Death. In Kelly Thompson and Gerardo Sandoval's current ongoing series, a romance with Elsa Bloodstone was strongly teased in the last issue, with an incredibly tender moment between the two heroes.

Deadpool #5 features Deadpool as the King of Monsters, a role he assumes after killing the previous king. While he's letting the adorable Jeff the Land Shark play with a giant monster called Smash Smash, the bigger monster starts heading for New York City to cause some chaos. Deadpool, Elsa, and Jeff use a monster called Hurl to disgustingly teleport to Smash Smash. Once they reach Manhattan, they attempt to reason with the monster, but ultimately, the pair have to put him down for good after he continues to cause destruction. While Elsa and Deadpool's conversations have often been fiery, loud, and filled with expletives, once Smash Smash goes down, Deadpool laments that he was disappointed he couldn't get through to him. Elsa thanks Deadpool for reminding her that monsters are more than just mad beasts. The two hold hands much to the surprise of Jeff.

Deadpool Elsa Bloodstone

Deadpool tells Elsa "that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me," and reminds her that his "face looks like hamburger under here..." Elsa isn't bothered, telling Wade she's been "looking at monsters my whole life, Wade. Looking at your face is like looking at boring wallpaper," which Deadpool responds, "well, I was wrong... that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." It's a cute, touching scene that teases a romance between two unlikely characters. Considering both antiheroes are often misunderstood, love to swear, and are extremely violent, it's the perfect pairing for Marvel Comics.

Deadpool's actual appearance doesn't turn Elsa away. Instead, she sees the tremendous potential in him in making a difference as the King of Monsters. For someone who's constantly self-deprecating himself, Deadpool is genuinely touched by the remarks. Elsa has hunted the grossest monsters Marvel has to offer - so, Deadpool might think he's gross, but to Elsa, he looks like "boring wallpaper," which is extraordinarily sweet in its own screwed up way. Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone would make an amazing couple and hopefully, this tease is the start of a beautiful, albeit explosive romance.
