Josh Brolin's casting as Cable in Deadpool 2 has certainly got fans buzzing. The announcement came after weeks and weeks of hearing all kinds of possible names, from Russell Crowe to Pierce Brosnan, from David Harbour to Stephen Lang. Not long before the official word dropped, Michael Shannon was considered the frontrunner for the role, which made Brolin's casting seem to come out of nowhere. After all, he already has a Marvel character, though with Deadpool not considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his role as Thanos won't have any impact on Cable. And now that we know its him, the anticipation has shifted. Instead of wondering who the actor will be, now the focus is on how he will do. And, of course, what he will look like.

As often happens when comic book fans are wondering how an actor will look as a beloved character, there has already been some fan art of Brolin as Cable. There was also a fair amount for some of the above-mentioned actors people wanted to see play the role. After all, Cable's look is pretty distinct. From his muscular frame and flattop haircut to his mechanical enhancements and toys, including that spectacular eye, Cable is not the sort of person one sees walking down the street every day.

And no one knows what Cable looks like better than Robert Liefeld, creator of Deadpool. The comic book writer and artist drew his own picture of Brolin as Cable, which he shared on Instagram. And it's exactly as fantastic as you might expect:

Liefeld's sketch is a nice little addition to his previous welcome for Brolin. And he is hardly the first, Deadpool actors Ryan Reynolds and Stefan Kapicic have both also been public with their welcome messages and made it clear they approve of the casting choice. Still, approval from the creator is just about as good as it gets.

Brolin is not the only new cast member joining the Deadpool family. Zazie Beetz has also been cast as Domino. And, of course, as with most comic book movies, signing on for one film often means joining a whole universe. Deadpool 3  and X-Force are also in the works. Between playing Thanos in The Avengers: Infinity Waras well as several movies as Cable, Brolin is going to be pretty busy for the next few years.

It certainly will be interesting to see how Brolin and Reynolds work together. The relationship between Cable and Deadpool is a pretty interesting one; on paper the characters could not be more different. Getting that relationship right in Deadpool 2 is going to be key. It certainly seems like Liefeld believes Brolin is the man for the job.
