Fans can own a piece of Deadpool by helping to fund cancer research. Previously teased as a "big, pink surprise," Ryan Reynolds interrupted the FX premiere of Deadpool, in character, with a special message. Even though the speculation was that the message would have something to do with Deadpool 2, the reality was very different. The video message retains Reynolds' pitch perfect tone and delivery as the Merc with a Mouth but reveals nothing about Deadpool 2.

The pink surprise in question, was in fact, a new Deadpool suit. The new, very pink suit is being entered into a lottery that any fan can enter. They just have to donate to the charity of F-ck Cancer. Although there are other definite prizes up for grabs, depending on the size of the donation.

The campaign to donate off this new pink suit is a part of a partnership between Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox and Omaze, the fundraising platform. The official statement for the campaign reads:

The partnership provides fans the chance to receive an exclusive, custom-made pink Deadpool suit. A cause close to the Merc's heart, proceeds will benefit the work of F-ck Cancer, the nonprofit dedicated to cancer prevention, early detection and providing support to those affected.

Over at Omaze's official page for the campaign, fans can enter the sweepstakes, with its multi-tiered donations. It's possible to participate in the fundraiser for just $10. This entry level donation, earns the fan 100 entries to win the custom pink Deadpool suit. The donation sizes increase from there. Obviously more money donated results in more entries in the sweepstakes. At the highest level of donations there are extra rewards. If Deadpool fans donate $1,000 they will receive a signed poster for Deadpool 2, in addition to entries for the sweepstakes. At $1,500, they will receive a signed DVD of Deadpool. Lastly with a $5,000 donation, fans can get a personalized outgoing voice message with Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool.

Though there is no real tie to the plot of Deadpool 2, there is a bit of a promotional tie-in. The campaign will last until May 21, 2018, three days after Deadpool 2 is set to release in theaters. While serving as a very good cause, the fundraiser is a nice bit of promotion for Deadpool 2. Although, in all honestly, Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds don't need much help in hyping up the film.

While Deadpool is far from a family-friendly character, this type of altruism is becoming pattern for the franchise. The popularity of Deadpool has earned him fans across the world. Reynolds and crew have only been too happy to oblige their most dedicated and down-on-their luck enthusiasts. Reynolds was one several actors who rallied behind terminally ill superhero fan, Emilio Pachon, shortly before the 11-year-old's death.

The obvious reason for the pink suit is because it has become the official color of breast cancer research. Interestingly, there are some comic connections to a pink Deadpool suit. The biggest one is the alternate universe version of Deadpool and Gwen Stacy, Gwenpool. Yet in Gerry Duggan's run of Deadpool, Wade Wilson formed an organization called the Mercs for Money. The Mercs for Money were a riff on Deadpool's own real-world success. Wade turned Deadpool into a crime-fighting franchise and hired a bunch of obscure comic book characters to be new Deadpools. The catch was they all had different colored costumes.

None of the costumes of the Mercs for Money were the exact same shade as the pink Deadpool suit that is up for grabs. Their colors were determined by the shades of the rainbow and there is no pink in the rainbow. Still, it's close enough to be worth mentioning. Even if it's nothing more than a quasi-Easter egg and suggests nothing about the future of Deadpool, it's still an interesting tidbit.
