Warning: Spoilers for Deadpool #7 by Kelly Thompson, Gerardo Sandoval, Victor Nava, and Chris Sotomayor.

Deadpool may have a dark, sarcastic, devil-may-care attitude that makes it seem like he's impervious to almost everything, but with the release of Deadpool #7, it seems Marvel's favorite anti-hero isn't immune to being misled. Deadpool comics are known for dark comedic writing, endless sarcasm, slight bouts of egocentrism, and occasional accounts of breaking the fourth wall. This latest issue is no different, but it may be because of all those things that Deadpool lets his guard and seemingly walks right into a trap while venturing out to protect monster hunter, Elsa Bloodstone.

Bloodstone's relationship with Deadpool is new to this series, but her character is already established in the Marvel universe as a born and bred monster hunter. Considering her background, it only made sense to weave her into this storyline given that Deadpool now reigns over his own monster kingdom. So far their relationship has consisted of some bickering, Deadpool hitting on her in slightly backhanded ways, and what seems to be a growing mutual respect and care for one another. After all, up until now, it seems Bloodstone has been nothing but supportive of Deadpool's reign as king and generally respectful of the monsters he is responsible for. It makes sense that chaotic king Wade Wilson has let himself get comfortable around her.

Things actually seemed like they were calming down and Wilson was finally settling into his role as king, but nothing good lasts for long in the world of comics. In the last issue, Elsa revealed that the Bloodstone in her hand had been infected and was killing her. In this issue, it seems their task was to defeat the evil beings that planted the infection in the first place: evil, other-dimensional beings known as the Bone Beasts. Turns out Elsa had previously been attempting to defeat them when she started getting sucked into the seem that leads to their world but used the Bloodstone to set herself free, in turn causing the infection. Of course, readers don't get to hear the whole backstory because Deadpool gets annoyed of her taking the focus away from him in his own comic. Bearing in mind what happened next, Deadpool probably regretted not hearing out the whole thing.

Deadpool #7_The Plan

After giving a hearty beatdown to the Bone Beast lackeys that were wreaking havoc in a village somewhere in Greenland, they moved on to the main event: going into the seem to defeat their Queen. Elsa claimed that if they defeated their Queen, then all of the others would die too and her infection would be cured. Seems full-proof and simple enough? Unfortunately for Wade, either he was lied to, or the Queen had ulterior plans all along; because upon arrival, due to the fact that he is terrible at not making a scene, the Queen of the Bone Beasts finds them and praises Elsa for returning with her replacement... as the Queen's host body!

What this means for King Deadpool's future lies beyond the edge of this cliffhanger, but you can say for certain that he's more than a little peeved to learn that this horrible monstrosity expects him to be her next host.
