After the success of 2016’s Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth has become one of the most recognizable pop culture icons. It was inevitable, though, that the fourth-wall-breaking character would reach such stature. Deadpool’s cinematic counterpart served as a counter balance to films like Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which dealt with heavy themes involving political conspiracies and the morality of superhero intervention in conflicts.
Deadpool instead focused on a simple love and revenge story, stacked with a plethora of jokes and satirical content that made for one heck of a theater experience. Let’s also not forget the film’s R-rating, which allowed it to have some of the most ludicrous and violent scenes ever shown in a superhero movie. Indeed, when it comes to crazy, it doesn’t get crazier than Deadpool. Yet, sometimes, the fans have even crazier ideas.
Both in the comics and in the movies, Deadpool is a dude who isn’t afraid to try new things. His crazy shenanigans have even led him to cut off his hand just to escape from Colossus’s grasp. There’s a lot more insane things the Merc has done in his movies, but his creative fanbase are the ones with the real imagination. These artists have taken Deadpool and completely redesigned him in the most excellent and coolest of ways.
Without further ado, here are 15 Fan Redesigns Even Crazier Than The Movies.
Deadpool of the Caribbean
Though in the movies Deadpool hasn’t shown a love for pirates, he sure looks like the best captain of the seven seas in this fan redesign by DeadpoolFool. Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow may be the main attraction of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but it’s no question that Deadpool could definitely steal that role away.
He looks better than Depp ever has as a pirate.
Deadpool’s red color scheme complements the pirate suit quite nicely and even his mask blends fantastically with the skulls and bones pirate hat. The golden “DP” on Deadpool’s chest gives the design the perfect final touch.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Merc with a Mouth is a movie fans would definitely see. Considering the time travel element in Deadpool 2, it would make sense if we suddenly see the Merc with a Mouth kicking it in the Bahamas, or Jamaica. Even more, the Disney/Fox deal, if approved by the government, will have both franchises under the Disney umbrella. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility that such a crossover could happen.
Deadpool in the Caribbean would definitely be a grand spectacle to see in a future Deadpool installment; he'd just better be wearing that stunning wardrobe DeadpoolFool designed for him.
Deadpool’s Underwear
The Merc with a Mouth seldom wears underwear, preferring instead to don his birthday suit under his costume, but that didn’t stop artist Andrieri Stefano from creating one of the best-looking, coolest fan arts on the internet. Here Deadpool seems to be victim to a massive explosion, like in his first movie when he first fought Ajax.
As you might recall, that explosion left Deadpool without any clothes on. Stefano brings this scene to life perfectly, but with a PG-rating style, adding the white and pink hearted boxers to cover the merc’s lower body. Deadpool still yet hadn’t created his costume in the movie when the explosion occurred, but there are still many parallels between that scene and this amazing fan art. Frankly, this might be better than that scene itself.
The art itself is pretty fantastic too. The mix of high contrast colors with a saturated tone in many of the background colors brings Deadpool in boxers to life. There is extra detail on the arms and legs of the merc, which help to distinguish the character’s physique in the art. Stefano spent over 20 hours of painting to bring this design to life and the hours of hard work definitely paid off.
Squirrelpool
Everyone is familiar with the Marvel Comics character Squirrel Girl, but have you seen how awesome Deadpool looks when he is the one completely transformed into a rodent? Deadpool hasn’t looked this interesting since his fight with Cable in Deadpool 2 and this is all thanks to artist Nick Lasovich, who brought the concept to life in this phenomenal fan art.
In this piece, aptly titled “Squirrelpool vs. Squenom,” instead of adding a large squirrel tail to Deadpool akin to Squirrel Girl’s costume, Lasovich instead puts the merc’s mask on a squirrel’s head, along with the cool ninja gadgets and swords. To make the design ever better Lasovich even turned Venom into a squirrel version of himself.
The best part about the art has to be that they are both in an epic fight for an acorn.
The content within the art is incredible in and of itself, but the design as a form is just as great. The entire design is engulfed in a cold blue tint, which in turn emits a wintery feeling. The autumn leaves also help in creating this vibe. Even more, the red of Squirrelpool’s mask is the focal point of the entire painting, since it is the only warm color that makes up the design. Indeed, that is a truly genius move, Mr. Lasovich.
Buzz Lightyear meets Deadpool
It’s always great when Deadpool gets to cross over into a Disney franchise to do what he does best. Unfortunately in the latest cinematic installment, Ryan Reynolds admitted that many Disney jokes had to be cut from the movie. This could’ve been done due to the looming Disney-Fox deal that’s currently taking place.
Nonetheless, we can’t deny that when Deadpool makes fun of Disney, the jokes are hilarious one hundred percent of the time. Artist MasaoLab has captured this essence perfectly in his new fan art for Deadpool 2.
Here, Deadpool is redesigned under Pixar’s Toy Story banner, and to make it even better, Buzz Lightyear even appears in his incredible tango pose from Toy Story 3. We all know how much Deadpool loves to dance, so it’s not surprising that in this art he is embracing Buzz with so much passion and emotion.
Indeed, while this is a Deadpool fan art, the main attraction here is the Pixar theme with Buzz taking center stage. Admittedly, the theme complements Deadpool incredibly well. MasaoLab managed to make the merc look like an actual toy, making the design pop and shine as if it was a real poster for an upcoming Toy Story film.
Bikinipool
In the movies, Deadpool and Vanessa want to go relax under the sun in a tropical setting, with margaritas and chimichangas. Trouble always comes knocking on Deadpool’s door before his plans ever realize, so the merc will receive his deserved tropical getaway any time soon. When it eventually happens, though, fans can’t help but think of what Deadpool will end up wearing once he makes it to the resort. One fan artists had a genius idea.
Artist LazyBasy knows that Deadpool is a fashionable guy and this design imagines the merc in the perfect attire for a day at the beach.
Deadpool’s beach wardrobe includes a bikini combination decorated with chimichanga patterns.
Those type of bikinis aren’t easy to find, so it’s safe to say that the merc probably designed those himself. He is also wearing a wonderful beach hat. A branded pool tube around his waist completes the design.
LazyBasy’s redesign of Deadpool will definitely have you craving a vacation to the tropics. Not only does the the design have an appealing tropical aesthetic, but it also captures the fun side of Deadpool. If the merc ever finds himself in the Caribbean and he’s not wearing a pirate costume, he’ll most definitely be donning this tremendous beach wardrobe.
Scooby-Dooby Pool
Who doesn’t love a good crossover? When it comes to mixing two shows together for one awesome adventure, none can compare to the crossovers of Scooby Doo. The timeless cartoon has shared the small screen with Batman and Robin, Josie and the Pussycats from the Archie universe, the Addams family, plus a number of other well-known properties.
Recently, the CW’s Supernatural had its special Scooby Doo crossover episode. Now, imagine if Deadpool was one fortunate enough to pop up in one of the many adventures of Shaggy, Scooby, and the rest of the Mystery Machine gang. Artist Sumit Mangela has done exactly that.
In this fantastic fan art, Mangela has Deadpool dressed up as Velma, the intelligent sleuth.
Even better in classic Scooby Doo fashion, Deadpool has seemingly caught Thanos and discovered that the man under the purple mask is actually Cable. It’s a hilarious piece that plays on the fact that actor Josh Brolin portrays Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Cable in this month’s Deadpool 2. Jinkies indeed!
Additionally, the art is also drawn exceptionally well, so let’s hope Fox takes Mangela’s idea into consideration and give us that Deadpool/Scooby Doo crossover we so desperately need.
Ready Player Deadpool
This year has seen superhero movies take over the box office. Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and now Deadpool 2 have conquered the first half of 2018. Yet, even though early 2018 can be described as superhero season, Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One snuck its way into theaters.
In that movie the protagonist is able to enter a virtual reality and become any pop culture character his heart desires. He can even customize that character to his own liking. In this very special fan redesign of the Merc with a Mouth, artist E-X-P-I-E has created the perfect rendition of Deadpool mixed with the mecha style as seen in anime like Mobile Suit Gundam.
While E-X-P-I-E created this tremendous design in 2017, many months before the release of the Spielberg film, we can’t help but see the many parallels the art has to Ready Player One.
The artificial interface graphics and the glowing holograms definitely have an Oasis-esque aesthetic and if the Oasis was real, this would totally be a design many players would use.
Mecha Deadpool is a concept we’ll probably never see on the big screen, but it’s thanks to artists like E-X-P-I-E that we can marvel at amazing art pieces like his redesign of the merc with a mouth.
Black Panther vs. Deadpool
T’Challa and Wade Wilson don’t seem to mix well on paper, considering how vastly different they are represented on the big screen. Yet, artist Sam Wilstrup managed to concoct the perfect amalgamation of our favorite mercenary with the king of Wakanda. Wilstrup published the art way back in 2016, so perhaps in addition to being extremely talented he can also foresee the future.
Black Panther and Deadpool 2 released in the first half of 2018, with both films aiming to become box office juggernauts. The former has already become one of the most successful films of all time, amassing over one billion dollars worldwide. Deadpool 2 is on its way to making history with many projections seen the film reach close to the one billion dollar mark. With numbers like these, it would be in Fox and Disney’s best interest to follow Wilstrup’s artistic suggestion and make these two superheroes meet. Even more, they should also consider using Wilstrup’s dark aesthetic.
The art piece contrasts the fun that is Deadpool with the serious demeanor and royal complexion of T’Challa. Put against a dark, urban backdrop, this concept can be flawlessly translated to the big screen by having the Merc with a Mouth fight Black Panther at night in Wakanda. Now that would be totally bonkers and completely cinematic!
Piscina de La Muerte
We all know that Deadpool loves to speak Spanish. He’s tried to speak the language several times in both of his films, only to end up hilariously mistranslating what he’s really trying to say. Since Deadpool enjoys speaking Spanish so much, then his next film should put him in a Spanish-speaking country. And what better setting than Mexico?
The merc clearly loves Mexican culture as his admiration for chimichangas implies, so it’s about time Deadpool, or “Piscina de la Muerte,” as the name is translated in Spanish, take his jokes to Mexico. While we’ll have to wait if such ever happens on the big screen, artist Rick Celis has already given us the perfect sample of what that adventure could look like.
In this fantastic redesign, Deadpool can be seen sporting the traditional Mexican sombrero. Celis even gave the Merc with a Mouth, or “the Mex with a Mouth” as stated on the design, a classic Spanish mustache.
Aside from the sombrero, Deadpool is even wearing a red and black poncho, with a green and red scarf representing aspects of the Mexican flag.
To top it all of, Celis gave Deadpool a revolver, making the Mexican cowboy look even better. It’s safe to say that Deadpool would fit perfectly in a Mexican setting and since Mexico is Deadpool’s biggest audience in Latin America, then Fox already knows what it has to do for the threqueel.
Deadpool: Ragnarok
In the comics, Deadpool has had his share of romantic relationships, but none to the level of him and Lady Death - the personification of mortality in the Marvel universe. With the introduction of Hela in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many fans thought that she would serve as the cinematic version of Lady Chaos and appear in Avengers: Infinity War. That unfortunately didn’t happen.
With how insane the Deadpool movies are, fans then speculated that the Lady would make a cameo in a future Deadpool film. Despite that not coming to fruition, artist Miguel Blanco found the perfect way to make this a reality. He even kept Cate Blanchett’s Hela to make matters much more interesting.
In this art piece, we find Hela in one of her iconic poses made famous by the Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer. Off to the side is Deadpool, who’s not afraid to show that he has a crush on the Asgardian queen. As great as this would be to see on-screen, Deadpool is already in a committed relationship with Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), so it’s very unlikely for Hela to win his heart.
Even more, Hela was presumably eliminated in the aforementioned Thor: Ragnarok. Needless to say, there’s also the fact that both characters belong to different cinematic universes, so this is a match not even a dating app can make.
Deadpool, Cable and Megan Fox
Nothing screams “Deadpool” like seeing the Merc with a Mouth riding a unicorn. That’s right, a unicorn. We first saw Deadpool’s odd attraction to the mythical creature in the first Deadpool movie, where he used it for some rather personal matters. The unicorn then became a part of Deadpool’s branding, appearing in the marketing material for the second installment. Even the end-credit montage of both the original film and the sequel features Deadpool with his unicorn bestie.
It was only a matter of time until fans everywhere created their own interpretation of the Deadpool-Unicorn dynamic.
The best one for sure is this tremendous art piece by artist John Gallagher. Here we find Deadpool riding a black unicorn “that breathes fire and farts rainbows,” as Gallagher himself described it. Even better, joining Deadpool in his unicorn adventures is none other than Megan Fox, who sits comfortably behind the Merc with a Mouth, enjoying the ride.
The greatest aspect of this fanart is definitely Cable, who instead of riding a unicorn, is actually riding a flying pony. It just doesn’t get better than that. Will we ever see Josh Brolin hop on a pony and fly off into the sunset? Probably not, but this art does put a smile on our faces.
Deadpool Graffiti
Deadpool is known for his insane tendencies to go along a road that ultimately leads to self-destruction, literally. In the first Deadpool movie he blew himself up to escape an oxygenless entrapment. In that same movie he even cut off his own hand. But the level of craziness grew even higher in Deadpool 2.
Indeed, Deadpool is a man who isn’t afraid to splatter himself all over the silver screen, as he heals from pretty much anything. There are many ways to bring such craziness to life in an art piece, but artist Arian Noveir has done so in the most luxurious of forms.
This art piece is simple, yet incredibly sophisticated and full of nuance. Only Deadpool’s face makes up the poster, but that is enough to understand what Noveir could be trying to say. One interpretation could be that Deadpool himself is like a splattered canvas of red, white, and black, representing the many ways the merc figuratively paints a story throughout his movies.
Also, the design simply looks awesome, so that could plainly be the meaning behind it: awesomeness. Deadpool is so cool that just his face makes for one beautiful canvas painting. Well done, Mr. Noveir.
Booty and the Beast
Before Disney announced its interest in acquiring the film and entertainment divisions of 21st Century Fox, famed graphic designer BossLogic brought the idea to life with his fascinating redesign of Deadpool. In anticipation for Deadpool 2, the artist blended Beauty and the Beast with the Merc with a Mouth to create one of the best fanarts ever conceived.
Instead of Emma Watson and Dan Stevens’ Beast dancing on the poster, BossLogic placed Deadpool and the X-Men’s Beast as the dynamic duo.
As happens with many of BossLogic’s great designs, the Booty and the Beast fanart quickly spread through Twitter and Instagram.
What’s great about this art piece is that it's as if Beast and Deadpool really posed for the camera and took that picture. Of course, this design was made in Photoshop, but we can’t help but praise how real BossLogic made it look. Keeping to the theme of crossovers, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Deadpool to suddenly appear in various live-action Disney movies once the Disney-Fox deal gets approved.
At the same time, though, Deadpool isn't really able to make fun of Disney, realistically speaking. Ryan Reynolds revealed that many Disney jokes were cut from Deadpool 2, so a Beauty and the Beast/Deadpool crossover, in any shape or form, will never see the light of day.
Wonderpool
One of the most successful superhero films of 2017 was Wonder Woman. Starring Gal Gadot as the titular hero, the film went on to become a cultural phenomenon and earn big bucks at the box office. It’s no surprise that Deadpool would be one to reference Wonder Woman whenever he gets the chance. He hasn’t actually done so in any of his movies, but artist Mutant101 brought the idea to life in the most hilarious of ways.
In this redesign, Deadpool is not only sporting his own suit, but he is also wearing Wonder Woman’s battle armor on top of it. It doesn’t look comfortable, but Deadpool sure knows how to rock an outfit.
In his first movie, Deadpool rarely referenced or joked about the characters from the DC Universe, except for Green Lantern, who Ryan Reynolds played in the 2011 film of the same name. Recently, though, in Deadpool 2, the Merc with a Mouth doubled down on his DC jokes, going as far as referencing Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Batman’s iconic catchphrase: “I’m Batman.” The only DC movie he didn’t joke about was Wonder Woman, which speaks to the amount of respect and love Deadpool has for that DC film.
Saint Deadpool
Deadpool is known for his funny demeanor, his red and black suit that looks a lot like Spider-Man’s, and his impressive fighting skills. His best-known characteristic, though, is that he is virtually immortal. The Merc with a Mouth can’t be eliminated, as any time he perishes he always finds a way to reconstruct himself and keep the fun going. That’s why his enemies are sometimes some of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful entities.
While Deadpool has been defeated before, it’s only because he was going against literal gods, as in Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet or the Living Tribunal. But Deadpool is somewhat like a god too, with his immortality. Some might even call him a saint. That’s exactly what artist Sun Khamunaki beautifully designed in this magnificent art piece.
Here, Deadpool is presented as a holy figure, with a big and bright halo surrounding his head and a white robe covering his red suit.
In his left hand he carries a basket of warm bread and his right hand gestures as if he was shooting at a target. There’s no violence in this art piece, despite it being a staple of Deadpool’s character; rather there’s peace and serenity. This was an aspect of the character that was explored in Deadpool 2 and one that will probably stick around as more Deadpool films are made.
