Warning! Spoilers ahead for Deadpool: Black, White & Blood #1

In the first issue of Marvel Comics' new Deadpool: Black, White & Blood anthology series, Wade Wilson provides a hilarious reminder that his comics aren't for kids... after one of the worst scenes is already shown. Considering his status as a mercenary and assassin with a ridiculously powerful healing factor, Deadpool stories are more often than not full of blood and guts. Combined with his irreverent sense of humor, DP stories are probably something younger readers should stay away from. And Deadpool himself agrees. With his awareness of being in a comic book universe and his frequent breaking of the fourth wall, Wade speaks directly to any kids reading this new issue, providing them with some hilarious advice about what Marvel content they should and probably shouldn't be reading.

Following the success of the Wolverine and CarnageBlack, White & Blood series, it makes perfect sense that Deadpool would be next in line for his own anthology. Deadpool: Black, White & Blood #1 features three stories from all-star creative teams, and the first is "Red All Over," coming from writer Tom Taylor and artist Phil Noto. In the short story, Wade tries calling both Spider-Man and Wolverine for help on a new mission, but they both declined. This provides the perfect opportunity for Wade to call Honey Badger (Gabby Kinney), reteaming the dynamic and hilarious duo.

During Wade's phone call to Gabby, he mentions that he didn't call her first due to the fact that it would have been weird to call a kid before anyone else for something so dangerous and violent. When Honey Badger asks how violent, Deadpool responded that he's really hoping no kids are reading this new issue, seeing as how he was sitting with his intestines falling out surrounded by all sorts of zombified animals he had presumedly hacked and slashed. This prompted Wade to offer his reminder to kids about his content in a cheesy yet hilarious PSA format.

It's certainly is a great "teaching moment," even if it comes a little too late for any kids already reading. That being said, it's also good advice considering everything else that happens in the short story. Once Honey Badger arrives to help Deadpool out, they end up facing more zombie animals (like a zombiebra), excessive amputations, stabbings, and plenty of blood all around (the story does have to live up to the series' title after all).

In any case, Deadpool acknowledging and encouraging kids to wait before they read his comics is admirable, yet also hilarious as any kids reading have already seen the most grisly shot of the entire story before his warning. That being said, the cheesy PSA is great and very much on-brand for Wade Wilson, providing a wonderfully entertaining story to kickoff Deadpool's brand new (and very bloody) series from Marvel Comics.
