Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman has come up with another possible Deadpool 3 title for his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, but hilariously, it does not include Deadpool at all. Jackman will return to his iconic role as Wolverine, which began with the first X-Men movie in 2000, in next year's Deadpool 3 — which might not be the movie's final title. Deadpool 3 marks the first time Jackman will play Wolverine since he bowed out as the character in the Academy Award-nominated Logan. The actor has teased different titles for the movie since he was announced to return, but all focus more on Wolverine than Deadpool.

During an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jackman suggested Deadpool 3 should actually be called Wolverine 10.

Jackman continued his hilarious campaign for Wolverine to be the focus of a new Deadpool 3 title. Wolverine easter eggs in the MCU have increased lately, with the Disney+ show She-Hulk: Attorney at Law including a few. The MCU appears to be laying the foundation for Jackman's Wolverine return, which will be his tenth movie as Logan. Check out the full exchange below:

STEPHEN COLBERT: Let's talk about prepping to be — this is for Deadpool 3. Ongoing beef between Deadpool and Wolverine but also --

HUGH JACKMAN: -- we like to call it Wolverine 10 if that's okay. Let's call it Wolverine 10.

STEPHEN COLBERT: Were there nine other Wolverines?

HUGH JACKMAN: I believe I've been in nine, well, including cameos I've appeared nine times.

Why Jackman & Reynolds' Title Battle Is A Great Sign For Deadpool 3

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman acting out Deadpool 3 in teaser video

The ongoing feud between Jackman and Reynolds is one of the best Hollywood "rivalries" out there. It mimics perfectly the comic book relationship between Deadpool and Wolverine. With Jackman and Reynolds already having this kind of rapport ahead of filming, Wolverine's MCU debut in Deadpool 3 is poised to recreate that dynamic banter in the movie, a good sign for those who love both characters.

Jackman's playful Wolverine-centric title ideas for Deadpool 3 also show that the actor's back for a fairly big role in the movie, and there is a huge chance the final title for the film will include both Marvel heroes. It's safe to say that Jackman likely wouldn't return for a supporting role and his public-facing involvement this far ahead of the film's release indicates that Logan will have a big part to play in the film. The actors previously interacted as the characters in 2009's disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but, beyond that, they haven't gotten to show off their dynamic in this way since.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine tells the story of Jackman's X-Men and included an appearance from Reynolds as Deadpool, though this version of the character was largely reviled. In the movie, the Merc-with-a-Mouth went by Wade Wilson instead of his better-known superhero name and it was revealed that both Logan and Wade were part of a mutant Black Ops team — Team X — during the Vietnam War. Reynolds even showed shades of what the Deadpool character would become, with his now-signature quips peppered throughout the movie. Unfortunately, the Wolverine movie made the bizarre decision to sew Wade's mouth shut while giving him a completely new look and powers. Now, both characters can be their fully realized selves onscreen. Jackman's Wolverine return could mean Avengers: Secret Wars has a role in store for the character after Deadpool 3, with the MCU likely gathering all its heroes for the massive event, portending even more exciting things for both characters.
