Ryan Reynolds reveals he has been studying Hugh Jackman's Wolverine before the production start of Deadpool 3, which will make audiences dream of seeing the pair reunite onscreen real. Reynolds' first time as the merc with a mouth was in a supporting role on Jackman's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Although the movie was panned by critics and audiences alike, Reynolds' portrayal of Wade Wilson was one of the high points of the flick, which led to the actor's ability to make a faithful Deadpool adaptation years later. Now, both characters can appear as their best versions together onscreen in the MCU.

Ryan Reynolds has shown the world through an Instagram story just how he's preparing for Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. The actor shared a photo of his television as he prepared to start watching Jackman's originally planned swan song as Wolverine, Logan. Jackman's return as the Adamantium-clawed hero caught audiences by surprise, given Wolverine's seemingly final fate in Logan. Check out Reynolds' post below:

What To Expect From Hugh Jackman's Wolverine In The MCU

Jackman and Reynolds surprised Marvel fans worldwide with their shocking announcement that Wolverine would be returning in Deadpool 3 back in September. As soon as the dust settled, everyone's attention turned to just how Wolverine could fit into this new Deadpool entry that takes place in the MCU. There are a couple of ways that could work, and both of them involve Deadpool 3 taking audiences for a ride through Marvel's live-action multiverse.

The simplest way to handle Wolverine's role in Deadpool 3 is to have the character join the merc with a mouth for a trip from the Fox Marvel Universe to the MCU. Reynolds talked many times to the press about how his original idea for Deadpool 3, before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, was to take both characters on a road trip together. All signals point to that plot still being in play for Deadpool 3 and the duo partaking in an adventure through a new universe come 2024. That road trip could go two different ways. The first is a movie primarily set in the MCU, with a short cold open that has Deadpool and Wolverine meet again and get pulled into the MCU. After that, both characters could traverse the universe as they search for a way back, with Jackman's Wolverine returning to the Fox universe as Reynolds' Deadpool chooses to stay.

Another way the movie could develop, which feels like something Reynolds' mind might envision, is to have the characters go on a trip through the multiverse, with Loki's TVA bringing them into the MCU. Audiences would pack theaters to see Deadpool 3 take Reynolds and Jackman on a farewell trip through the Fox Universe of Marvel characters. The duo could say goodbye to the X-Men, as iconic characters like Magneto and Xavier could appear, with talented actors Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy having a final go at them. Another possible universe Deadpool and Wolverine could visit is the one from the Fantastic Four movies from the early 2000s. Viewers could find out what happened to those characters in the years since they were last seen, with the choice providing an endearing close to that franchise right before the Fantastic Four premiere in the MCU. Audiences can find out how Wolverine will fit into the MCU's plans when Deadpool 3 premieres on August 8, 2024.
