Deadpool 3's Ryan Reynolds says he is still hopeful for a Hugh Jackman Wolverine crossover and asks fans to write to Kevin Feige to make it happen. Reynolds first brought the iconic Merc with a Mouth to life in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which received generally negative reviews from critics and audiences alike for its major departure from the character's comic book persona. After lobbying for years to get an R-rated solo movie off the ground, Reynolds would get a second chance with 2016's Deadpool, which was loosely set in Fox's X-Men franchise and was a critical and commercial hit.

This success would help spawn Deadpool 2, which saw a similar wave of acclaim and large box office haul, paving the way for a third installment and a spin-off movie for the X-Force team. However, plans for Deadpool 3 and X-Force were put into doubt as Disney acquired 21st Century Fox and the rights reverted to Marvel Studios, though the former would be confirmed with Bobs Burgers alum Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin were brought on to pen the script for the threequel and will be set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As work continues on the superhero movie, those behind Deadpool 3 are putting out their hopes for a key element of the franchise's future.

While speaking with ComicBook.com to promote The Adam Project, Ryan Reynolds opened up about development on Deadpool 3. Though keeping his lips sealed on what's to come from the long-awaited threequel, he did confirm his interest in having Shawn Levy helm the MCU movie and to finally get his Hugh Jackman Wolverine crossover. See what Reynolds said below:

"That would be amazing. I say write to Kevin Feige, care of Marvel Cinematic Universe at whatever Buena Vista Way. I don't know where it is, but yeah, that would be nice. That would be a dream. That would be dream come true."

Hugh Jackman comments on Ryan Reynolds Deadpool MCU debut

Levy, with whom Reynolds has now worked with back-to-back for Free Guy and The Adam Project, went on to tease that he is working to get the Deadpool 3 star and Jackman together for a future project, though kept his lips sealed on what that project will be. Audiences have been clamoring for Reynolds' Deadpool and Jackman's Wolverine to crossover on the big screen since the disappointing first attempt in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with the two actors having also openly campaigned for it to happen. Reynolds previously teased that the original Deadpool 3 plans at Fox would've seen he and Jackman's Wolverine embark on a road trip together, an interesting concept given the first two films' fourth-wall-breaking references to both the actor and character's existence in the world of the Merc with a Mouth.

Hopes for a Wolverine crossover with Deadpool has also been further built over the years with Reynolds' and Jackman's ongoing good-natured feud, which the latter recently paused to praise the former's work in The Adam Project. Though Jackman has downplayed a potential Wolverine return after the events of Logan, co-star Patrick Stewart initially expressed a disinterest in reprising his Professor X role, only for a recent trailer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seemingly confirming his return, leaving the door open for Jackman to return should the story entice him. Only time will tell as development continues on Deadpool 3 ahead of its reported late Fall 2022 production start.
