Fans are remaining hopeful for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine return in Deadpool 3 based on a new image from the actor. The latest installment in the Ryan Reynolds-led superhero franchise marks the first outing for the Merc with a Mouth under the House of Mouse following Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Deadpool 3 will also see the introduction of the fan-favorite character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after having previously existed in a version of Fox's X-Men franchise.
Alongside Reynolds, Deadpool 3 will see the return of Leslie Uggams as Deadpool's elderly former roommate Blind Al and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who were briefly replaced by Bob's Burgers vets Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. The film will also mark the latest collaboration between Reynolds and director Shawn Levy, who have been on a hot streak with 20th Century Studios' Free Guy and Netflix's The Adam Project. As details remain largely under wraps for Deadpool 3, audiences are clamoring for any little detail for the MCU threequel, including from those who weren't previously involved.

Though a seemingly innocuous pic, many fans believe it to be fueling his Deadpool 3 return speculation, with a variety of users responding to the tweet with GIFs of Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth and theories Jackman is looking at either an offer or script for the long-awaited threequel. Jackman and Reynolds have memorably had a lighthearted feud going on for well over a decade, with Reynolds taking the opportunity to carry it over into the Deadpool movies with jokes aimed at his fellow X-Men star. With this well-meaning battle between the two, audiences have remained hopeful for Jackman's Wolverine and Reynolds' Deadpool to get a proper crossover on screen following the dismal failed attempt in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While both stars have expressed interest in making it happen at some point, Jackman's tenure as Wolverine seemingly came to a close with the critically acclaimed Logan alongside fellow X-Men star Patrick Stewart.
Given Stewart ultimately returned for the MCU's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, many are hopeful Jackman will return as Wolverine for Deadpool 3, namely as the star expressed interest in reprising the role only for the MCU. While Jackman has indicated putting the character in the past, Reynolds has continued to push for fans to campaign for Jackman's return in the MCU, even telling fans to write Marvel head Kevin Feige to try and convince the star to make at least one more Wolverine appearance to properly crossover with Deadpool. While Jackman's photo may ultimately prove to be disconnected from Deadpool 3, many fans are sure to hold out hope for it being the first indicator of their dreams coming true.
