A new unofficial Deadpool 3 poster shows Ryan Reynold’s Wade Wilson in Spider-Man’s mask. Since the release of the game-changing R-rated Deadpool in 2016, Reynolds has become synonymous with Marvel’s iconic Merc-With-A-Mouth. However, after two hugely successful installments of Deadpool, Disney acquired Fox in 2019, and since the acquisition, fans have been wondering about the fate of Reynolds' anti-hero. Although Reynolds has reassured fans that a Deadpool 3 would happen under the Disney umbrella, not much had been announced; especially considering Marvel has their schedule mapped out until 2022.

Last month, however, fans of Reynolds’ uncensored hero received a major boost as reports came out that Deadpool 3 was, in fact, moving forward at Marvel studios with the Molyneux sisters (Bob’s Burgers) writing the script. The Deadpool official Twitter account then essentially confirmed the news with a crossover image of Bob Belcher, while reports also stated the third film will continue the R-rated trend of the previous films. The news has left many, including comic writer Rob Liefeld, very happy, and it’s also led to fans imagining the possibilities of the anti-hero in the confines of the MCU with various pieces of fan art. Now, another piece of art shows Wade Wilson in a familiar-looking mask.

In an Instagram post, artist Erathrim20 posted an unofficial Deadpool 3 poster that, in typical tongue-in-cheek Deadpool humor, plays off Marvel’s Spider-Man. Not only can Wilson be seen in a Spider-Man mask (with love heart eyes), but hilariously, the mask is half removed so Wilson can enjoy the puff of a cigarette. Also, the unofficial title, Deadpool Far From Fox, plays off the previous Spider-Man film, amusingly taking from the Far From Home title while also acknowledging the shift from Fox to Disney. Unofficial Deadpool 3 Poster

In addition to being a highly entertaining visual for Marvel fans, the unofficial poster is so effective because it’s also a very believable Deadpool 3 poster. It includes so many of the tropes that make the franchise so successful, including the breaking of the fourth wall by acknowledging Fox. What’s more, for long-time comic book fans that are aware of the many crossovers between Deadpool and Spider-Man in the comics, it’s an exciting possibility to see the two characters’ worlds eventually crossing over on the big screen. The love heart eyes and also the post’s caption of “Instant Love Activated” may also be a play on the fact Reynolds previously joked that he loves Tom Holland 3000.

The possibility of seeing Deadpool interact with Spider-Man and a whole host of other popular MCU characters is exciting, as it could no doubt bring a unique and very entertaining element to the Marvel universe. It remains to be seen what will happen when Reynolds’ third film as the Merc-With-A-Mouth comes out, but the knowledge that the project is moving forward is exciting. However, until Deadpool 3 is released or more details are revealed, Marvel fans can continue to enjoy these imaginative and fun pieces of art, such as this new poster.
