Wade Wilson's MCU debut in Deadpool 3 can provide the solution to one of the Multiverse Saga's biggest multiversal problems. Deadpool 3 is a key event for the MCU's Multiverse Saga, as it not only brings back two of Fox's most famous X-Men characters but also continues the development of the multiverse and the official introduction of mutants into the MCU. The MCU multiverse makes it possible to incorporate popular characters from other franchises such as Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men, and Patrick Stewart's Professor X.

Now, with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine joining the MCU, Deadpool 3 can answer more than one question regarding mutants and the multiverse. However, Phase 4 established that characters from other realities can't stay in the MCU's 616 universe permanently, lest they risk causing an incursion. The exact details of how incursions work are yet to be revealed, but as it stands by the end of Phase 4, staying in a universe different from one's own can lead to its collapse.

Deadpool Can Only Stay In The MCU If He Avoids An Incursion

Deadpool in the MCU and Fox's X-Men Universe

Seeing Deadpool and Wolverine finally reunite on the big screen after the lackluster X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a big draw, but Deadpool's permanent incorporation into the MCU is also part of Deadpool 3's allure. Like Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool has plenty of potential for future stories inside the MCU that he wouldn't able to take advantage of if he was forced to return to his universe at the end of Deadpool 3. But in order to stay in the MCU, Deadpool must find a way to avoid bringing a catastrophic incursion along with him.

Deadpool 3 Can Solve The Multiverse Saga’s Incursion Problem

Deadpool and the Multiversal Incursion In Spider-Man No Way Home

Fortunately, Deadpool's skills aren't limited to gory violence and breaking Marvel's fourth wall. Deadpool also tends to bend the rules of the Marvel universe. In the comics, Deadpool seduced Lady Death and convinced the Beyonder to erase him from the Avengers' memory after Secret Wars, and in the movies, he goes back in time to save Vanessa and even kills Ryan Reynolds before the actor reads the Green Lantern script. Surely, Reynolds' Deadpool can find a creative way to stay in the MCU without causing an incursion, which can also help other multiversal characters return without putting the MCU in danger.

One tool Deadpool could use to avert an incursion in Deadpool 3 is Cable's time travel device. Unlike the MCU, time travel in Fox's X-Men franchise affected the timeline directly and without branching out the timeline into different universes. With the Sacred Timeline in shambles, perhaps Deadpool will be able to use his own version of time travel to join the MCU and not be considered a multiversal invader. America Chavez already set the precedent of being safe from incursions, so it's not hard to imagine that the immortal, fourth-wall-breaking Deadpool can find a loophole that allows him to stay.
