Fan concerns over Deadpool 3 mean nothing after Marvel revealed its Avengers: Infinity War-style plan for the sequel. Deadpool 3 is set to bring back star Ryan Reynolds in the titular role with screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, (who wrote the first two films) at work on the script. Director Shawn Levy, who directed Reynolds in The Adam Project, and Free Guy is at the helm of Deadpool 3, bringing together a strong, proven collaborative team to induct the character into the MCU properly.

Audiences have raised concerns about Deadpool 3 ever since Disney acquired Fox, which put the franchise's R-rated edge in question, as Disney has been labeled a "family-friendly" brand from the start. However, much of what Disney acquired with Fox is R-rated franchise material and thus far they've been able to develop and find homes for more mature-rated material, including the upcoming Predator prequel Prey, which will debut with an R-rating on Hulu. Disney+ has even opened up the streaming platform to R-rated and mature content, now carrying the mature-rated Marvel shows from Netflix like Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones. Just ahead of Comic-Con, Disney+ uploaded the first two R-rated Deadpool movies, once again showing that they aren't afraid of embracing the property they've acquired.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took to the stage at Comic-Con and introduced an entire slate of films running through Phase 6 (with many openings unannounced) and later answered questions about their future plans. Talking to THR, Feige said, “How do we elevate [Deadpool 3] in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, Infinity War, and Ragnarok? It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.” The film has also been confirmed to be R-rated and the screenwriters have said that Disney is "hands-off and supportive" in their crafting of the script for Deadpool 3. All of these factors together mean that fan fears mean nothing for Deadpool 3, as it has everything stacked in its favor at this point.

Why The MCU Will Be Great For Deadpool 3

deadpool 3 update hands off approach with disney

With Disney allowing Reynolds and the filmmakers to follow their instincts and keep the same level of humor, violence, and insanity intact, while also ramping it up to be on the scale and tone of Thor: Ragnarok, Captain America: Civil War, or Avengers: Infinity War, an official MCU Deadpool 3 is primed to be something really special. Deadpool was already a franchise that worked in other superheroes (or rather, mutants) into his films - such as Colossus in the first film, and Cable, Domino, and Juggernaut in the sequel - but now the floodgates are open to include all manner of MCU superheroes and/or mutants. While some may argue that it could go overboard, the fact remains that Deadpool has always worked best when he's playing against other characters, and now he can really take some of them to task.

An MCU budget for Deadpool 3 will also work exceptionally well for the film. Previous efforts weren't exactly operating on indie budgets, but working under the Disney umbrella will allow Deadpool 3 to up the ante in the best possible way. It's not that Deadpool 3 necessarily needs the extra money to make a good film, but rather that it allows the character to operate in a bigger, wilder, and more expansive universe. Dropping Ryan Reynold's Deadpool into a sprawling MCU superhero movie with all of his usual R-rated antics in place is a recipe for pure, unadulterated fun and will no doubt breathe some much-needed change into the mix. With the deck stacked this high in terms of the creative team, R-rating, and eye toward a bigger, more immersive Infinity War-style film, Deadpool 3 fan fears are set to be proven unfounded upon the movie's release.
