Zazie Beetz will be back as Domino in Deadpool spin-off, X-Force. This news shouldn't be too unexpected for fans. Domino hasn't just been a longtime member of the group X-Force in the comics; she was actually first introduced in the pages of X-Force. Furthermore, Beetz' version of the character will play a big part in the organization's formation during Deadpool 2. It's also been rumored that Beetz is among the best parts of the R-rated sequel, with Deadpool 2 going through reshoots to add more of her character.

Yet just because the news is expected doesn't mean it's not exciting. The future of Fox's X-Men universe is still very much in flux with the possible Disney buy-out hanging over the studio. However, there seems to be a big investment in the Deadpool franchise and its characters, regardless of what happens with Disney. Even if X-Men and Deadpool become a part of the MCU, it won't be until after characters like Domino get their moment in the spotlight.

The news of Beetz being apart of X-Force was obtained by That Hashtag Show. Beetz currently has a three picture deal with Fox to appear as Domino, with Deadpool 2 being the first part of the deal. It's now confirmed that X-Force will be the second in the current trilogy of Domino appearances. The deal could always extend beyond three movies. However, for now, Beetz is confirmed to be in X-Force, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin, who will be reprising their roles as Deadpool and Cable.

X-Force, which will be written and directed by Drew Goodard, is just entering pre-production, so details about the movie are very scarce. Things will undoubtedly become in much clearer focus upon Deadpool 2's release. While it was always assumed that Deadpool, Domino, and Cable would survive Deadpool 2 and return, nearly everyone else who has been teased as apart of the original X-Force roster is in danger. Peter, the supposedly average joe of X-Force, might have become a fan favorite after Deadpool 2's final trailer but he may not be in X-Force movie.

There is one thing known about X-Force, other than Domino's involvement. Much like the comics, X-Force is aiming to be a darker and more violent answer to the X-Men. X-Force is currently being described as "a Black Ops force of down and dirty mutant warriors who are far more ruthless than their X-Men counterparts."

Deadpool and the X-Force team prepare to jump out of a plane in Deadpool 2

Because X-Force is getting its launch in Deadpool 2, a sequel in an overtly comedic franchise, it's high likely than X-Force won't be too "gritty." X-Force might not be as ludicrous as Deadpool but there will almost certainly be a similar sense of humor. Even if Deadpool doesn't remain the team leader in X-Force, it will be informed by the Merc with the Mouth's sensibilities. Speaking of X-Force's leader, given the confirmation of Domino's involvement and the buzz surrounding her character, it's far more likely that Domino will take a more central, possibly leadership role, in the movie than Deadpool.

Ryan Reynolds will be an executive producer on X-Force and Deadpool will obviously play a big part. At the same time, the actor has never been averse to sharing the spotlight, especially with the Deadpool franchise. It's very likely that Domino will get a more authoritative role in X-Force, even though in the comics, it's Cable who is the team's first leader. Domino could end up replacing him.

At the very least, fans should prepare for a lot more of Zazie Beetz' Domino in Deadpool 2, X-Force, and possibly far into the future.
