Deadpool 2 Wraps Filming; Ryan Reynolds Jokes About Movie's Title

Filming has officially come to a close on 20th Century Fox's highly anticipated sequel Deadpool 2. While Ryan Reynolds technically first played Wade Wilson back in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it was not until years later that Deadpool finally got justice. Reynolds' commitment to the character and Fox eventually giving the film a go following a "leak" proved to be a worthwhile effort, as Deadpool went on to become the biggest R-rated movie of all-time.

Following the record breaking success, it is no surprise to see the studio pushing hard for more from their violent and comedic star. His sequel has been one of their most important productions, and the additions of Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz) only continued to build anticipation for the movie - and it is now done filming.

Writer Rhett Reese confirmed the end of production on Deadpool 2 today on Twitter, announcing that the sequel was done filming. This puts the sequel's production at a stop four months after it began filming back in June. With the sequel already done filming, the post-production process will now begin, which means a poster and trailer will not be too far away as the marketing campaign begins for Deadpool 2's summer 2018 release. UPDATE: Ryan Reynolds additionally commemorated the end of filming with a post on Instagram joking about the film's official title.

That’s a wrap! Deadpool 2 is in the can!

That’s a wrap on DEADPOOL 2: A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE! Thank you to our beloved Captain, Mr. @davidmleitch... words are too clumsy to properly acknowledge your giant heart and talent. I love my hometown of Vancouver and our obscenely gifted crew. From our PA’s, (who are first in and last out) to our set decorators and prop departments, riddling this film with Easter Eggs in almost every scene... Thank you. I already miss being on set. Which is why I’ve decided to continue shooting the film in my underwear from Josh Brolin’s well appointed living room. #MaximumEffort

With Deadpool 2 now wrapped, it will put an end to unofficial looks at the sequel that have continued to pop up. Most of the more recent looks have put the spotlight on the sequel's time traveling mutant, showing Brolin in an all-white suit shopping, an earlier photo posted by Brolin sparked speculation of Stryfe being included in the film. That said, Brolin hasn't been the only star of the set, with Domino and Deadpool getting their time earlier in production.

Fans are already anxiously waiting to see what Deadpool 2 will hold with so many new factors. Not only will Cable and Domino be introduced, both of whom are major comic characters, but the sequel will also see the return of fan-favorite characters like Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Weasel (TJ Miller), and Dopinder (Karan Soni), while also bringing back Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and Colossus (Stefan Kapicic).

The cast turnover is one thing, but the switch behind the camera is also something that has continued to be a topic of conversation. Tim Miller is not returning to direct the sequel due to him wanting to do something new, so Fox brought on John Wick co-director and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch to helm Deadpool 2. He's shown a glimpse of a potentially darker feel in the teaser attached to Logan, but that was more absurd than the finished product. Now that filming is done, it hopefully won't be too long before we can get an idea of what exactly to expect from the finished product of Deadpool 2.
