A new clip offers the first lengthy glimpse of Deadpool 2 beyond the film's trailers. The clip shows the time-traveler Cable - the apparent villain of the film - as he chases down a truck containing a mutant child, who he believes has to die in order to save the future.

Despite being one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2018 and having seen a number of trailers and viral marketing stunts in the months leading up to its release, 20th Century Fox has been surprisingly tight-lipped regarding direct details involving the story of the sequel to 2016's Deadpool. Little is known about the plot or the action of the movie beyond the facts that it will involve a conflict between Deadpool and Cable over the fate of a young boy and that Deadpool will form a group called X-Force in order to deal with Cable.

The brief clip, which can be viewed above, premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live!  This preceded an interview with actress Zazie Beetz, who plays the role of Domino in Deadpool 2. A long-time member of X-Force in the original comic books, Domino is a mutant with the unlikely power of being incredibly lucky.

Domino is the main focus of the clip, which sees her taking control of the truck that Cable is chasing, with Deadpool in hot pursuit of them both. With Domino focused on driving the truck, she's unable to see what Cable is up to after he jumps on top of the convoy vehicle while it is moving. This requires Deadpool, who is following behind her on a motorcycle, telling her what is going on, in a string of double entendres ("He's on top of you! He's going in through the back!") that he insists were not intentional.

While this clip is amusing and features a number of good gags, it offers little in the way of clarification when it comes to Deadpool 2's story and plot. Fans of the character are unlikely to care, however, given that plot and story are secondary considerations to the humor and the action in the average Deadpool comic. X-Force fans are far more likely to complain that we haven't seen enough of Shatterstar clefting people in twain with his trademark swords than they are about a lack of clarity in the characters' motivations. In any case, this clip should prove a welcome appetizer for fans as the wait for Deadpool 2's release day continues.
