Deadpool 2 star T.J. Miller reveals Weasel may have a storyline with fellow returning Deadpool character, Dopinder (Karan Soni). After languishing in development for over a decade, 20th Century Fox released Deadpool early in 2016 to extremely positive reviews from critics and fans alike, and became the studio's most successful X-Men universe film in terms of box office. The movie followed Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) as he became the Merc with a Mouth anti-hero and sought revenge on those who made him what he is. Along the way, Wade had some help from his friends: Weasel (Miller), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), the cab driver Dopinder (Soni) as well as X-Men pals Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand).
The Merc with a Mouth is set to return to the big screen next summer in Deadpool 2, which officially began filming earlier this month. Wade Wilson's friends are set to return along with the anti-hero, who will be joined by two newcomers in Domino (Zazie Beetz) and Cable (Josh Brolin). While fans of the Marvel Comics heroes may most be looking forward to the inclusion of the X-Force characters, one Deadpool 2 star hints that the non-superpowered characters will also have plenty to do.

During an interview about his latest film, The Emoji Movie, Screen Rant asked Miller what Deadpool fans can expect from the sequel to Fox's beloved R-rated mutant film. Miller teased even more Weasel, as well as a potential storyline with Dopinder:
We’re shooting in August and September and it’s going to be even more Weaselicious. … The cab driver, Karan Soni, and Weasel have a pretty funny storyline, which I’m not positive is going to be in [the movie], but they were talking about it and it was really making me laugh. And I like him, I did Office Christmas Party with him, and he’s very funny, very quick and so — because we didn’t cross paths in the original film. ... So y’know [fans can expect] stuff like that. I think they’re really building out the world and deciding kind of what’s next.
Of course, what Weasel and Dopinder's potential storyline may be remains to be seen. Both characters quickly became fan-favorites from the first Deadpool movie, but as Miller points out, never actually crossed paths since they interacted with Wade Wilson at different points in his quest for revenge. So, their possible story arc in Deadpool 2 could feature Weasel and Dopinder teaming up to provide some non-superpowered support to the Merc with a Mouth, or it could be somehow unrelated to the titular character (though the latter possibility seems less likely).
Still, Miller's comment seems to indicate it's not set in stone that Weasel and Dopinder's storyline will actually make it into Deadpool 2. With two major new characters joining the Merc with a Mouth in Domino and Cable, not to mention the unknown new villain played by Jack Kesey, it's possible Weasel and Dopinder's storyline will be cut for time in the Deadpool sequel. That said, considering how beloved both Weasel and Dopinder were after the first Deadpool movie, fans are no doubt holding out hope writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick - with help from Drew Goddard - as well as director David Leitch have something fun planned for the characters in Deadpool 2.
