Deadpool actor and producer Ryan Reynolds has confirmed a release date for the extended cut edition of Deadpool 2 with a short clip announcing the "super-duper cut" edition of the film.

Audiences flocked to theaters this past May to welcome back Wade Wilson (Reynolds) as he made his latest appearance in Deadpool 2. The sequel, which was directed by David Leitch, explores Deadpool’s journey as he works to both avenge his girlfriend’s death and protect the life of young mutant Firefist. Not knowing quite what he’s up against, Wilson pairs up with various other mutants to keep the boy from falling into the hands of Cable, a super-soldier from the future who is portrayed by Josh Brolin.

Earlier today, Ryan Reynolds officially announced the extended cut of Deadpool 2. On Twitter, the Deadpool star and co-producer shared a promotional clip of the extended version's release, along with noting the future release dates. In typical comedic fashion of the Canadian actor, he let audiences know that they hadn’t seen the end of Deadpool 2 just yet. The Super Duper Cut is set to be released on Digital on August 7, with its Blu-Ray release closely following on August 21. See the video below.

The news confirms what many suspected after the official schedule for San Diego Comic-Con 2018 listed a Deadpool 2: Uncut screening - in addition to a Deadpool 2 panel. Along with alluding to appearances of cast and crew members, attendees will get a first look at the extended version of Deadpool 2. While the talk of the extended edition has been going on for quite some time, there hadn’t been an official release date announced until Reynolds took to his Twitter account this morning.

Deadpool 2 quickly received an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences all over the globe during its initial premiere this past May. With fans eager to experience the latest R-rated addition to the franchise, the film has already racked up quite the impressive box office revenue of over $720 million, which makes it the third highest grossing R-rated release ever. The first film in the franchise still steadily holds first place, followed only by The Matrix Reloaded. With the confirmation of release dates for the extended cut edition, it’s only to be expected that the film will still be making quite the profit as Deadpool-loving viewers everywhere will be excited to see the bonus content.

While no future additions to the franchise have been announced, the call for more Wade Wilson will evidently be answered this August.
