Deadpool 2 star Ryan Reynolds reveals the first look image of Zazie Beetz as Domino in the upcoming sequel. The first Deadpool movie languished in development hell for about a decade, before a leaked bit of test footage showcasing Wade Wilson's offbeat humor and assassin skills took the internet by storm in 2014. The massive positive reaction led 20th Century Fox to finally give the green light on Tim Miller's Deadpool - which already had a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reynolds, who portrayed Wade in the much-maligned prequel X-Men film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, signed on shortly after and the film moved forward.

When Deadpool hit theaters in 2016, it was a massive hit for Fox, earning widely positive reviews from critics and fans alike as well as becoming the highest grossing entry in the studio's X-Men franchise. As such, a sequel was officially announced not long after - though it had been in development even before Deadpool hit theaters - and Reynolds is set to reprise his role as the Merc with a Mouth along with a number of other stars from the first film. However, Deadpool 2 will also introduce two characters from the X-Men comics that fans have hoped to see on the big screen for many years: Cable, to be played by Josh Brolin, and Domino (Beetz). Now, we have our first look at one of the new mutants in their costume for the film.

Reynolds, who serves as a producer on Deadpool 2 in addition to starring in the film, posted a photo of Beetz in her Domino costume to Twitter. The photo is a reference to one of the first promo images for Deadpool, which featured Reynolds laying on a rug in front of a fireplace in his costume. This new photo, however, sees Domino using Deadpool as her own "red carpet" - no doubt an indication of their relationship in the upcoming sequel. Take a look:

In the comics, Neena Thurman aka Domino, has worked with Cable and Deadpool on a number of occasions, and even joined the X-Force team - another film that Fox has in development in addition to a third Deadpool installment. Based on this first image of Beetz as Domino, it seems Deadpool 2 will be sticking close to the character's costume from the comics, a fact that fans will no doubt be happy to see.

Directed by John Wick co-helmer David Leitch with a script by Reese and Wernick - with some help from Drew Goddard - little is known about the plot of Deadpool 2, though co-star T.J. Miller, who plays Weasel, did reveal that the sequel kicks off with "some pretty tragic, dark sh–t." Filming began earlier this summer in Vancouver, Canada, and Reynolds has offered a few teases from the set, including an image of the Merc with a Mouth outside the X-Mansion. Other set photos revealed Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) filming her scenes, and Reynold suited up as Deadpool.

Of course, perhaps what fans are most anticipating from Deadpool 2 is Brolin's Cable and although the actor has posted plenty of teases concerning his character to social media, we have yet to see Nathan Summers' official costume. Now that Reynolds has unveiled the first official image of Domino, perhaps our first look at Cable is next - we'll have to wait and see. Until then, this image of Beetz as Domino should get fans hyped for Deadpool 2, even though the film is little less than a year away.
