As production for Deadpool 2 continues, up-and-comer Julian Dennison has joined the film. After two decades as a cult comic book character, Deadpool began making waves following his live-action appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While the film and the interpretation of the character were widely panned, Ryan Reynold's performance showed promise and it ignited a behind-the-scenes campaign that would slowly result in the release of last year's Deadpool. From there, the character exploded past his core fanbase and became a household name, thanks to the movie's massive success.

Like this year's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, next year's Deadpool 2 has a lot of buzz behind it. As the follow-up to a sleeper hit, audiences both want more adventures featuring the Merc with the Mouth and a new spin on the first film. And while we'll have to wait a bit longer to get a sense of what's changed, the first few days of production have already proven the film won't be forgetting where it came from. Set photos from the sequel have already shown Deadpool partly in civilian clothes and crashing a kid's birthday, in addition to wielding a gun and rocking a very casual ensemble. Now, on the next day of filming, we have a new casting announcement.

Ryan Reynolds posted a photo to his Instagram of himself as Deadpool with Julian Dennison on his back. The young New Zealand actor is new to Hollywood, having previously made a splash in last year's Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Starring Sam Neill and directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Hunt for the Wilderpeople already has something of a cult following to go with its critical acclaim.

Apparently, Reynolds and the Deadpool team took note of the actor's appeal and growing fanbase, and adding a young performer to the sequel will certainly open up some great comedic territory. Dennison will be a part of the growing stable of Deadpool side characters, with Weasel and Dopinder also coming back for the sequel.

Dennison, of course, isn't the only new addition to the Deadpool family. Following the casting of Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable, a few more names have been added to the cast. Jack Kesey is playing an unnamed villain, while Shiori Kutsuna joined the cast recently, as a potential new mutant character.

We've also heard that Deadpool 2 will help set up X-Force for 20th Century Fox. If that's the case, we could be in for even more casting announcements very soon. Likely, we won't be getting production updates every day of filming, but expect a lot more news and images to arrive as the Deadpool sequel continues shooting.
