The show focuses on the dark subject matter, but it has a healthy amount of humor to offset the dark plot. Let's revisit some of the funniest quotes from season one while everyone awaits the second season of this binge-worthy show!

"Just give her what she wants, or I'll go ape sh*t."

Judy asks for a raise at the nursing home she works at and her friend and resident, Abe, overhears her and offers his help. He appears out of nowhere when Judy's boss is about to tell her no Abe pops his head out of his room and delivers this line. It's a fun moment that shows Abe and Judy's friendship and his feisty nature.

"I'm a bleeder." "Everyone's a bleeder."

A typical trope when someone in a movie or show cuts themselves is "I'm a bleeder," and Dead to Me finally provides a hilarious retort to that line. Judy cuts her hand on a glass and Jen's understandably concerned as her hand continues to bleed. Judy laughs it off and says she's fine and says she's a bleeder, but Jen responds with the fact that every one bleeds.

"Hey, girl."

Every time Judy runs into Steve's office and past his assistant, they exchange some thinly veiled niceties by saying "hey, girl," every time they interact. It always gets a laugh because of the strained tone of voice from both women as it's not really a hey girl situation. Judy runs past her before she can do anything and has to constantly apologize to her boss for letting his ex run into his office.

"You have no idea how I looked at my grandmother, she was a very handsome woman."

Judy knows Steve (James Marsden) is trying to flirt with her, but he's just so charming, and the fact that she still has mixed feelings about him makes it work. She tells him to stop looking at her like that, and he replies with "like what? This is how he looks at his grandmother. It's a funny moment, even if it's a line."

"I'm so sorry about Charlie, he's been such a little d*ck since his dad died."

Jen And Judy, Grief group

This show thrives on the fine line between grief and comedy, and this line proves it. Right before Jen says this line, Judy is joining her and her two sons for dinner, and Charlie cusses constantly throughout the dinner. Jen tries to discipline him, but he won't listen to her and leaves in a rage. She apologizes to Judy after the dinner and says this line, which hilariously reveals where he gets the language from.

"Judy, would want you to punch the cake?"

Jen is trying to honor her husband on his birthday by putting together a small gathering of his mother, her co-worker, and Judy. Judy decorates for the party making it into a special affair with her artistic abilities.

Jen is quickly annoyed by her mother-in-law, as she continually dismisses any feelings Jen might be going through after her husband's death in favor of focusing on her own grief after her son's death. Judy has to leave the party when the police arrive, and Jen's sons say they miss her. Judy's mother-in-law brings out a cake with a photo of her and her son at his Christening, and Jen loses it, punching the cake, and says this line to her kids so they'll join her.

"I don't hate you, I'm just consistently disappointed with you."

Jen and her mother-in-law are always at each other's throats, and Jen finally confronts her about it. Jen asks why she hates her so much and she hilariously responds with this line, in a turn on the typical line a parent says to their child when they're not angry just disappointed.

"He's the worst kind of d*ck, because he's like a secret d*ck."

Jen says this line about Steve after he calls Judy crazy. Jen's been pulled between Steve and Judy, trying to figure out who is telling the truth between the two. Jen finally takes Judy's side and tells her that she shouldn't see Steve anymore because he's charming and good looking, but he's a secret jerk.

"You were so great out there. You just oozed personality." "I know."

Judy tries to talk to the little girl who found Ted's body after the hit and run. Judy approaches her after the kid's choir concert and awkwardly says the first line to give her a compliment, even though it's not true. Judy's taken aback when the little girl responds with nonchalant confidence that she knows. It's hilarious and one of the show's many moments of comic relief.

"I've got nothing except for a woman running around like a white wine vigilante."

Judy and former detective boyfriend, Nick, go to Detective Perez to discuss the hit and run case. The Detective says she doesn't have any new evidence. She has nothing except for Jen running around the city trying to solve things herself and wrecking speeding cars with golf clubs, who she hilariously describes as a "white wine vigilante."
