A clever Dead Space fan has uncovered a hidden easter egg in the form of a coded message on the remake's website. EA's space horror series has seen both success and failure in its lifespan; Dead Space was a widely beloved franchise until the divisive release of the third installment and EA's subsequent silence in regards to new games or content. The series began back in 2008 and the latest installment, Dead Space 3, along with its Awakened DLC, was released eight years ago in 2013.

For months, rumors had been circulating of a new game in the series, and less than a month ago on July 22, the Dead Space remake was revealed at EA Play Live. A trailer was dropped at the end of EA's online conference teasing the revival of the beloved horror series and exciting fans who'd been waiting for such a resurrection. Along with this announcement, the Dead Space page on EA's website received a brand new coat of paint along with a secret for long-time fans of the series.

On July 30, Reddit user Dead96m made a post in r/DeadSpace announcing the discovery of an easter egg hidden within the revamped Dead Space website. The main focal point of the new page is the iconic Ishimura, the Planet Cracker ship that brought aboard one of the franchise's sinister Markers and set the scene for the first game in the series, plaguing the crew with growing insanity and bringing about the Necromorphs. This fan noticed that the flashing lights on the ship aren't uniform or random in nature, but are instead a hidden message in Morse code spelling out the words "MAKE US WHOLE," an iconic and sinister line used throughout Dead Space by the Marker's hallucinations.

The Dead Space series isn't new to the use of hidden messages in its games, with the most notable examples being the chapter names for the first and third installments, spelling out key plot details by combining the first letter of each title together. The first game also features a secret alien language that can be deciphered by attentive players.

In a series known for its hidden codes and clues, this discovery makes one wonder what new secrets might be added to the upcoming Dead Space remake. While there still isn't too much info known about the game aside from the short teaser last month, there will undoubtedly be more secrets to uncover in the coming months as more details on the remake rise to the surface. Regardless of the little information given at this time, it seems that excitement among the Dead Space fanbase has reignited after the divisive release of Dead Space 3, sending some people on a hunt for every little detail they can find as they wait for the horror series' revival.
