After the recent reveal of the Dead Space remake, developer Motive Studios has apparently shared this year's last piece of footage from the game. Visceral Games' original sci-fi survival horror experience released in 2008, and today the game is still considered to be one of the greatest horror games of all time. A clear look at Motive Studios' Dead Space remake was recently shown during a developer livestream, allowing players to compare the remake to the original in great detail.

While the remake of Dead Space strives to recapture the magic and grotesque terror of the original game, Motive Studios is also working to update the 2008 release for the modern age. Graphics will obviously be a heavy focus of the remake, with the original's decade-old visuals being totally recreated on current-generation hardware. The game's broad plot will apparently remain mostly the same, but some changes and alterations will be made to the story. This will allow the developer to surprise even the biggest Dead Space fans with new twists, turns and unexpected scares. The original release's emphasis on targeting enemy limbs in combat will be maintained, and even enhanced with a brand-new flesh peeling dismemberment system that allows the monstrous Necromorphs to be realistically blasted apart.

While the recent livestream gave a thorough behind-the-scenes look at the Dead Space remake, developer Motive Studios has provided one last look at the game for this year. Dead Space community manager Caden House, under the Reddit username CM_Ythisens, showed off footage of a developer editing a piece of the spaceship Ishimura, the horror title's industrial and claustrophobic setting. The video comes along with a comment from House, which explains that the team at Motive Studios will be hard at work on the game for the rest of the year. However, more of the Dead Space remake will be shown to fans come 2022.

Upgraded graphics are a huge part of any video game remake, and a location comparison between Dead Space and its remake show that the Ishimura will be receiving a complete overhaul. Motive Studios has used legacy assets while constructing the remake, meaning that elements of the environment will be intimately familiar to fans of the original. However, modern graphics and lighting effects add much to the atmosphere in the Ishimura's halls, which will no doubt make for an even more tense experience for both new players and franchise veterans.

Motive Studios' Dead Space remake demonstrates both a keen love for the original survival horror title and a desire to push the game to greater heights. New combat and transversal mechanics will bring the game more in line with modern sensibilities, and graphics enhancements will completely reinvent the original game's Ishimura. Survival horror fans, particularly those who love the original Dead Space, can look forward to seeing more of Motive Studios' remake in 2022.
