The time has finally come for fans of Wolverine to bid farewell. Not to the hero they first knew and loved, but to the reality-displaced, tragic ronin referred to by Marvel fans as Old Man Logan. Or as he's going to be known after his final mission: Dead Man Logan.

Yes, after spending years filling the void left by the actually-dead Wolverine of the Marvel Universe, and passing on what wisdom he could to the youngest classes of X-Men, Old Man Logan has traveled home to the Wasteland from whence he came. And as he's set his sights on his oldest enemy, Sabretooth, he has officially launched the first attacks if his final fight. That is, assuming the comic stays true to its name and marketing, delivering the death of Old Man Logan. Like, for real.

The 12-part series has seen Logan wrap up his lingering plot threads surprisingly well. That included murdering the evil Hulk who following him into the main Marvel reality, and even finally meet Wolverine face to face. Having hopped through time and space back to his own version of the world, Logan has spent the past several months trying to make his last fight worthwhile. Now that a new Thor has been chosen in the Wasteland, and the last living (heroic) Hulk stands at her side, Logan has only one path ahead of him. Kill Sabretooth, and leave the future of the Wasteland in new hands. That's exactly where Marvel's official preview of Dead Man Logan #12 begins, and fans can watch the battle unfold below:

There is obviously reason to be concerned that Sabretooth may be too twisted and Frankenstein-ed to be properly killed by Logan before his healing factor finally gives out. Since fans know that Thor, Hulk, and a new Ant-Man will survive this battle to launch their own series as the new Avengers of The Wastelands, the question isn't whether the villains will emerge victorious. But for the fans hoping Old Man Logan would get to die, not just fighting, but winning, the stakes are still significant. Here's hoping Logan will deliver a satisfying conclusion when the full issues arrives Wednesday.
