Lost & Found quests in Dead Island 2 consist of two categories of quests. There are six Lost & Found Weapon quests and nine Lost & Found Missing Person quests. However, none of these quests are required for completing the game, all fifteen of them are optional side quests.

The Missing Person quests will require first reaching the Serling Hotel in the Ocean Avenue area of Dead Island 2. Here there will be a board containing posters for specific missing persons. Collecting the poster will trigger the quest to begin, and it can be completed at any point after that.

Starting Missing Person Quests

Missing Person board in Serling Hotel in Dead Island 2

Not every missing person quest will be available right away, if for no other reason than that some of the missing people are in Dead Island 2 settings that are not unlocked yet. For example, Rainier requires heading to Hollywood Boulevard which is the last area of the entire game.

The best way to know what is available is to head to the Serling Hotel where there will be a Missing Person wall in the hallway near the Lobby. It has tons of posters scattered over it, but if there is one available to be picked up for a quest, it will have a glow around it and can be interacted with once close enough to the wall. Multiple can be picked up at a time.

Once taken off the wall, the quest will be triggered to begin. Open the quest which will be found in the Dead Island 2 Quest Menu under Lost & Found. The poster will be the first clue for every quest and will give a general run down of who is missing as well as where they were last seen, which is where players need to look for them.

After reviewing the information, follow the hints to their location which will end the same way for every person, "Where in HELL-A is..." which is the point at which the information from the clues will need to be put together to finally track down the missing individual as no more information will be given about them.

Use the Fast-Travel Maps in each area to make finishing these quests go by a lot faster. Fast-Travel is unlocked after the Red Mist quest which has to be completed before ever reaching the Serling Hotel, therefore, nobody will encounter the Missing Person posters without the ability to Fast-Travel.

All Lost & Found: Missing Person Locations

The majority of the individuals will be fairly straightforward to find, but there are a handful of quests that will require some more difficult tasks to complete. For example, finding Nadia includes also tracking down four separate numbers randomly painted on the wall to unlock a door.

Additionally, most of the quests will include battling through multiple zombies, some of which are reminiscent of some Dead Island 2 bosses, like Crusher, Becki The Bride. The missing people will be spread throughout nearly every area of the game, but Venice Beach will be the big hot spot as almost half of them will be found there.

Where In HELL-A is...

Jamal

Halperin Hotel

Once at the Halperin Hotel, track down the two security huts, one near the Hotel Area exit and one South of the Hotel's entrance, to find clues that indicate Jamal left in a Red Truck with the plate number 8TGPCV7. Check the area on the map where all the roads converge to find Jamal's truck. Kill the zombies in the area and pick up Jamal's Crate Key to open the Crate on the back of his truck. There will be a note indicating Jamal was the Zombie that dropped the key, thus the quest is complete. If not already done, this is also a chance to grab all the Dead Island 2 safe deposit keys in the Hotel since this will likely be the last reason to return to the area.

1,500 XP

Laura

Venice Beach

Head to the Police Station which is marked on the Venice Beach Map. In the main section of the station, there are two clues, one near lockers and one on a desk, that will suggest Laura is likely still locked in a cell. Check Venice Hot Dogs which is in the plaza area North-East of the police station to find the Police Chief and get his key. Take it back to the station and unlock the cell where Laura will be found, already turned into a Zombie by Emily. Collect her final note after killing her and the quest is complete.

1,500 XP

Davis

Head to the Blue Crab Grill end of Venice Beach, to the most North-East point, to find the bus Davis tried to leave on. On the front steps of it, there will be a clue indicating Davis is headed to the Pier. Check the parked buses at the far North-East end near the Pier to find a Crusher walking around, who, unfortunately, is Davis.

1,500 XP and 1x Improvised Hammer

Pablo

Pablo requires a bit of work to track down. His first clue will lead to two Venice Beach locations, Rose's Tattoo Parlor which is on a corner that's North of the Police Station on the map, and Muscle Beach Nutrition which is East of the Police Station. To get into Muscle Beach Nutrition, use the Circuit Breaker from Venice Auto, which is behind the Nutrition store. The next stop is Venice Beach's weed shop, which is on the North-West end of all the shops. The key to enter it is in the alley South of it on one of the Zombies. Enter the shop to find Pablo, who met an unfortunate end.

2,000 XP and 1x Fire Axe

Shane

Shane is a lifeguard who will be tracked down through the lifeguard huts. Check the one on the South end near Blue Crab Grill to find a clue leading to Hut 18 which is the next one North on the beach. Zombified Nell will be waiting here, after killing her, the clue she drops will say Shane is heading for HQ which is on the beach near the pier. Here, a Crusher named TJ will need to be taken out in order to reveal a note stating that Shane is long gone.

2,000 XP

Steve

Monarch Studios/Beverly Hills

Steve is an actor, meaning the first place to look is Monarch Studios. Head over to Sound Stage 3 where one clue will be found on some steps behind the kitchen area and the other will be laying on a bed. Check out the trailer on Action Alley to find Zombie Sergio and his phone. After collecting the phone, head out to Beverly Hills. Steve is actually alive and well but needs a task completed before the quest is marked finished. Kill the three Dead Island 2 zombie types indicated by Steve by luring them back to his home and finishing them off in front of him.

2,500 XP and 1x Krakatoa (Legendary Weapon)

Greg

Ocean Avenue

No need to even leave Ocean Avenue for this one. Simply head outside to the parking garage at the corner of Stoker Pl and Silicon St. He needs you to help clear a path in the Zombies, but power needs to be restored to the parking garage first. Head up to a higher level of the garage and find the circuit breaker sitting in a truck there. Take it to the storage room and restore power to the garage before heading back to Greg. His unfortunate end will follow relatively soon after.

2,000 XP and 1x Metal Bat

Nadia

The Metro

Nadia is hiding out in the Metro, so that's where to look. Go a little North of where the fast travel map leaves you and her hand-drawn map will be on the wall which will not only tell you where she is, but where all the numbers are for the code to her room. Use the map to find all of Nadia's numbers and be sure to look thoroughly in the area referenced and interact with the numbers when found. After all 4 numbers are found, 0-2-6-8, unlock the door to find Nadia already turned. Kill her to collect the last two clues from the room and finish the quest.

2,500 XP

Rainier

Ocean Avenue/Hollywood Boulevard

The first stop for Rainier is Dr. Reed's lab on Ocean Avenue. Check the lab for a Slobber Zombie that will drop the next clue. Now head out to Hollywood Blvd and check the maintenance area to the right of the workbench to find the next clue on some shelves. Rainier is locked in a supply closet that is locked. Go and speak to him through the door and then kill Lenny who will pop up and drop the key. Let Rainier out who despite speaking to you, has turned and needs to be killed to mark the last Dead Island 2 Missing Person quest finished.

2,500 XP and Superior Melee Puncturator Mod

While unfortunately many of the Missing Person quests end with unfortunate consequences for each person, there are some positive things that come out of completing all 9 quests. In addition to the Legendary weapon, Krakatoa which is received from Steve's quest, Rainier also gives out a new Mod.

Both of these are pretty significant additions to the gameplay that can make slashing through the rest of Dead Island 2's Zombies a less stressful experience. Players will also receive the Sole Survivor achievement which is given for locating every Missing Person.
