The first boss players face in Dead Island 2 is Becki the Bride, a powerful zombie they must beat within the Halperin Hotel using every trick they've learned so far in the game. This demented undead in a wedding gown deals massive damage to players, knocking down anyone who underestimates her as a "Crusher" zombie type. Becki only needs a couple hits to take out a player, so she can't be easily defeated like the smaller walking dead seen before.
A Crusher type zombie remains one of several Apex Variants that exist as stronger versions of common undead found usually introduced through boss fights. All Crushers have an attack called an Overhead Smash that sends out a huge shockwave that players can only avoid by jumping. Sometime later into the boss battle, Becki the Bride will summon other zombies for players to fight, mostly a few of the weak and common Shamblers.
How to Beat Becki the Bride
The moment Becki the Bride jumps down from her wedding cake, she'll attack players with a slow punch that reaches pretty far. This is the zombie's main attack, and players can avoid or block this strike before hitting Becki once or twice after to get in some damage. Dealing damage to Becki's stability health, or the blue bar under her red HP, makes the zombie collapse when it reaches 0 and become vulnerable.
Players should be patient and hit Becki the Bride in between her slow attacks to drain her stability health to 0 and inflict huge damage when she is in a vulnerable state.
Getting a perfect dodge against Becki's attacks makes the zombie stand in place exhausted, leaving her open to attack. This boss has two major weaknesses, attacks to her head and electricity elemental strikes. Unlike later bosses such as Butcho the Clown in Dead Island 2, Becki can't heal from this critical damage, so players are recommended to exploit these flaws as often as possible.
When Becki recovers from her vulnerable state and regains her stability, she'll launch a fast kick attack toward the player, which may also be dodged. In addition to the Shambler minions Becki summons when her health starts getting low, her Crusher shockwave and a three-punch combo are the last attack patterns players need to be worried about when trying to finish off this grotesque newlywed.
Rewards for Defeating Becki the Bride
Plenty of cash drops when players bury this bride, but the boss fight doesn't technically end until every zombie in the room has been killed. A new ability unlocks as a reward also, a Ground Pound attack that knocks back surrounding zombies from the player.
While learning how to beat Becki the Bride may not be as difficult as later bosses in Dead Island 2, this foe gives players a good idea how to fight other Crusher zombies that appear throughout the game.
