Dead by Daylight update 5.4.0 introduces a new survivor, Jonah Vasquez, who has unique perks players can utilize to out-strategize the killer. Jonah’s perks are not centered on one portion of gameplay, which allows players to diversify their bag of tricks. Jonah’s perks give a boost to players’ movement speed, repair efficiency, and recovery speed. Jonah may not be the best survivor in Dead by Daylight, but his perks are generally useful.

Players can expect to use Jonah’s abilities to escape attackers’ advances and more proficiently repair generators. Each ability can be switched out for other perks; however, Jonah’s abilities are preferable over some other perks in Dead by Daylight.

The following Dead by Daylight perks are unlocked through progressing with Jonah in the game:

  • Overcome: whenever players become injured they retain a movement speed burst for two additional seconds.
  • Corrective Action: Players start the trial with one, two, or three tokens and gain a token each team a great skill check is completed. Upon a failed skill check, players will consume one token to replace it with a good skill check.
  • Boone: Exponential: Blessed totems can be hacked to create a boon totem that rings out soft chimes in a radius of 24 meters. Survivors inside the boon totem’s range benefit from a couple effects; a 90-200% bonus to recovery speed and a self-recovery ability allowing all survivors to fully recover from the dying state.

Overcome and Boon: Exponential are the most efficient, while Corrective Action can be replaced with several other perks. Overcome grants players an immediate value in the form of an extended movement speed burst upon being struck by the killer. Two additional seconds is enough to evade a killer for a short burst, but there are other perks that can be used in its place. Sprint Burst and Lithe may be better options for movement speed perks.

Boon: Exponential is a phenomenal boost to recovery speed and self-recovery in Dead by Daylight; however, its effects are contained within a 24-meter radius. All survivors are affected, but the radius limitation means that other perks such as Boon: Unbreakable may be a better choice for a survivor loadout. Even on the scariest maps in the game, Jonah Vasquez is a force to be reckoned with.
