Many famous monsters and villains from popular horror media have featured as Killers across various DLC chapters in Dead By Daylight, including Amanda Young, John Kramer's the Jigsaw killer's devotee, and first test subject from the SAW franchise. In Dead By Daylight, Amanda is given the nickname "The Pig" and comes with the Chapter VII: The SAW Chapter DLC. According to Dead By Daylight lore, after failing Jigsaw's test and taking a bullet, she was taken by The Entity and seemingly cursed to spend her days in her signature Pig mask. As a Killer, Amanda can place reverse bear traps on Survivors, which are activated by Survivors' actions, and can crouch into stealth and lunge at Survivors without a Terror Radius or Red Stain.

Like all other Killers in Dead By Daylight, The Pig has two main powers and three unique Perks that can eventually be unlocked for all other characters. She can use her Crouch and Ambush Dash abilities to sneak up on Survivors and use her hidden blade to down them before placing a trap on their heads. Her powers can be improved upon with dozens of Add-On items in her Bloodweb. The Pig is considered an Intermediate-difficulty Killer whose abilities may be unwieldy to newcomers at first but who tends to be easily picked up. Here's everything players should know about The Pig's abilities and strategies for playing her effectively in Dead By Daylight.

How To Build The Pig In Dead By Daylight

Perks for The Pig, Amanda Young, in Dead By Daylight

When players choose The Pig as their selected Killer in Dead By Daylight, they will need to master her basic attack and abilities. Her basic attack is a simple slash with her hidden blade. Her special power is called Jigsaw's Baptism, consisting of her Reverse Bear Traps. Amanda will start the Trial with four, though this number can be changed with Add-Ons. After downing a Survivor, Amanda can place an inactive Reverse Bear Trap on the Survivor's head.

When a Generator is completed, any inactive Reverse Bear Traps will activate. Survivors will only have 150 seconds to free themselves from the trap. To free themselves, Survivors will need to stop progressing Objectives or healing one another and search the Jigsaw boxes found around the Trial Grounds. Each box takes 12 seconds to search by default, without Add-Ons. The countdown on the Reverse Bear Trap will pause if the Survivor is being chased or has been downed. If Survivors do not manage to get the key and free themselves, the trap will snap shut and sacrifice the Survivor. Attempting to leave the Trial Grounds through the Exit Gate with the trap still active will also immediately trigger it, killing the Survivor.

The Pig has the special ability to Crouch into stealth. While Crouched, she gains the Undetectable status, at the cost of some movement speed. She can then Ambush Dash Survivors, attacking at increased speed and range from behind environmental obstacles.

Amanda has three unique Perks, primarily related to preventing sabotage and punishing Survivors for helping one another and progressing Objectives. Like other characters, once The Pig reaches levels 30, 35, and 40, his Perks begin to appear in the Bloodwebs of other Killers. Some of Amanda's personal Perks can work well with most Killers in the Dead By Daylight roster. The Pig's personal Perks are:

  • Hangman's Trick: The Killer gains a Loud Noise notification whenever a Survivor begins sabotaging a Hook. While carrying a Survivor, the Killer also sees the Aura of any Survivor within 2/4/6 meters of any Hook.
  • Surveillance: The Auras of regressing Generators are highlighted in white. If Regression is interrupted, such as by a Survivor beginning work on that Generator, its aura is highlighted yellow for 6/12/16 seconds. Generator Repair noises are also audible from an additional 8 meters.
  • Make Your Choice: Each time a Survivor is rescued from a Hook when the Killer is at least 32 meters away, the Rescuer suffers from the Exposed Status Effect for 40/50/60 seconds.

While Hangman's Trick tends to be a niche Perk that will only apply in certain matches, Surveillance and Make Your Choice can be transferred to other Killers to create more dynamic builds.

Players should consider adding other Perks to their Pig build that make up for her weaknesses and lean into her strengths. The Pig does best with Perks that allow her to monitor Generators, and find Survivors. Good alternative teachable Perks that work well with The Pig and capitalize on her abilities as a stealthy Dead By Daylight killer include:

  • Corrupt Intervention (The Plague): At the start of the Trial, the three Generators farthest from The Killer are blocked by The Entity for 80/100/120 seconds.
  • Hex: Ruin (The Hag): All Generators automatically regress at 100/150/200% of the normal Regression speed when they are not being repaired. This effect lasts as long as the associated Hex Totem is standing.
  • Hex: Haunted Ground (The Spirit): Two trapped Hex Totems will spawn in the Trial Grounds. Whenever one of these Totems is cleansed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed Status Effect for 40/50/60 seconds. The other Hex Totem immediately turns into a Dull Totem.
  • Monitor & Abuse (The Doctor): The Killer's base Terror Radius is increased by eight meters, but while not in a Chase, their Terror Radius is reduced by 16 meters, and Field of View is increased by 3/5/10. Field of View effects do not stack. Best used with Whispers to attain complete stealth.
  • Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown): After hooking a Survivor, the next Generator the Killer damages instantly loses 25% of its progress. Regular Generator Regression applies after.
  • Save the Best for Last (The Shape): Each time the Killer hits a Survivor other than the Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last gains one Token (up to eight Tokens). The Killer gains a stackable 5% cooldown reduction on successful attacks per Token, up to a maximum of 40%. Hitting the Obsession with a Basic Attack causes Save the Best for Last to lose 4/3/2 Tokens.
  • Tinkerer (The Hillbilly): Whenever a Generator is repaired to 70%, it triggers a Loud Noise notification, and the Killer is granted the Undetectable Status Effect for the next 12/14/16 seconds.
  • Whispers: The Killer can hear the whispers of The Entity when a Survivor is within 48/40/32 meters of them. Best used with Monitor & Abuse to attain complete stealth.

Players can also use any standard meta Perks when playing as The Pig, like Hex: No One Escapes Death and Spies from the Shadows. They will want to experiment with the options they have available and find the build that works best for them.

Survivors in Dead by Daylight

Dead By Daylight players can use Add-Ons found in The Pig's personal Bloodweb to increase her power. The best options increase her number of Reverse Bear Traps and the time it takes Survivors to search the Jigsaw boxes. These include:

  • Last Will: Available Reverse Bear Traps increase by one.
  • Face Mask: Survivors in a Reverse Bear Trap suffer from the Blindness Status Effect for everything except the Jigsaw Boxes.
  • Amanda's Secret: The Pig gains a notification when a Survivor successfully removes a Reverse Bear Trap, and the Auras of Survivors removing Reverse Bear Traps are revealed for six seconds. The Pig is no longer able to see the Auras of Jigsaw Boxes.
  • Rules Set No. 2: Disables the Survivors' ability to see the Auras of Jigsaw Boxes until their Reverse Bear Trap is activated.

Killers are limited to whatever items appear randomly in their Bloodweb, so it is a good idea to experiment with different Add-Ons to find a combination that works best for the player's preferred style and selected Perks to capitalize on The Pig's trap and stealth abilities.
