In celebration of the Lunar New Year in Dead by Daylight, developer Behaviour Interactive is featuring the in-game Moonlight Burrow Event, which will begin on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, and end on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. This event is the perfect opportunity for players to earn a massive amount of Bloodpoints, the primary currency for upgrading Characters by purchasing Bloodweb Unlockables. Additionally, the Moonlight Burrow Event will also feature ten free limited-time cosmetic items related to the Year of the Rabbit. These freebies include four items for Killers, four for Survivors, and two adorable rabbit-theme Charms.
To unlock every free cosmetic item during the Moonlight Burrow Event in Dead by Daylight, players must participate in a simple mechanic involving Red Envelopes. Similar to other Offerings, these envelopes can be found in players' Bloodwebs.
Survivors and Killers must then take their Red Envelopes into a Trial and interact with them to reveal their aura to all other participants in the instance. Next, other players must interact with the activated envelopes to gain a random number of Bloodpoints. In contrast, the original owners of the Red Envelopes receive a fixed reward of 5,000 Bloodpoints and a random Moonlight Burrow cosmetic item.
Unlocking All Moonlight Burrow Items in Dead by Daylight
According to Dead by Daylight content creator Paulie Esther, unlocking Moonlight Burrow cosmetic items and receiving Bloodpoints from the Red Envelope minigame will not be affected by player performance. In other words, it will not matter if a Survivor lives or dies in the Trial; they will still receive their event rewards if they successfully perform the "envelope transaction" with someone else.
Likewise, Paulie Esther states that Killers do not need to kill other players to receive their event Bloodpoints or cosmetic items. Accordingly, the system is focused on rewarding those who participate in the event rather than those skilled or lucky enough to win instanced matches.
Sources at Ginx TV state that once players have collected all ten of the Moonlight Burrow cosmetics items in Dead by Daylight, they will not receive any more cosmetics but will continue to earn Bloodpoints for their Red Envelopes. Therefore, players, especially newcomers, are encouraged to complete this event activity as much as possible to farm Dead by Daylight Bloodpoints before the Moonlight Burrow's conclusion on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
However, remember that the visual cue and loud sound effect of a Red Envelope's activation will attract the attention of Killers focused on winning the match rather than letting their fellow players gain event rewards.
