When Dead Cells released back in 2017, it was perfectly suited for fans of the Dark Souls games that felt the gameplay sorely needed some rogue-like elements and Metroid style exploration. There are no checkpoints throughout Dead Cells world, which means that players will be forced to restart every time that they die. Every run through will give the player a better grasp on the world around them as well as better upgrades to help them make it further into the game.

Players are still exploring the world of Dead Cells even today, which is probably because of the very regular updates that it receives. The newest, Barrels O' Fun, has introduced all new enemies into the game as well as a brand new area to explore. This makes for a great new update as players now have a brand new alternative path to check out right at the very end of the game. This game shows players how to access the new biome and what things they should keep in mind while there.

Dead Cells: How to Access the Derelict Distillery

Dead Cells Distillery

Accessing the new update isn't exactly an easy task. In order to do so, players will first need to complete an entire run of the game first. This means making it all the way to the very end and killing the Hand of the King and The King. Once this has been done, players will need to make another run through the majority of the game again until they make it to either the Clock Room or Guardian's Haven. From both of these areas, players will find an exit that leads to the Derelict Distillery.

This place is essentially an old abandoned warehouse that was originally used as a distillery before being turned into a gunpowder factory. Players will find that the area is completely filled with barrels of all sorts, some of which are explosive and others that are hiding enemies inside. In order to make it out of the Derelict Distillery, players will need to track down a key so that they can unlock the door to the Throne Room.

Dead Cells Attacking

There are many different things for players to keep their eyes open for while they are exploring this distillery. Players will come across many different kinds of enemies, but they can also acquire scrolls or blueprints for all of their hard work.

Enemies- There are a couple of new enemies that players should be wary of. Living Barrels are some of the most unique in that players will assume they are normal barrels until the creatures attack. They will try to explode if damaged, so players should stay alert. Another new enemy is the Infected Worker. These large humans carry explosive barrels that will be thrown at the player. They can knock the player's health down considerably with one hit. All other enemies will be pulled from different biomes, but most of them are incredibly dangerous.

Blueprints- There are two new blueprints for players to obtain from enemies. The Tesla Coil can be obtained as a drop from the Living Barrels. This new skill will fire lightning at enemies and apply the shock status effect. Players can also acquire the new Barrel Launcher ability from the Infected Workers. This lets the player fire an explosive barrel that can be bounced off walls to deal damage.

Scrolls- Players will be able to find two Power Scrolls and two Dual-Stat Scrolls. There can also be up to two Scroll Fragments depending on what difficult they player is on.
