Dead by Daylight has officially announced its crossover with the popular anime, Attack on Titan. Since June 2016, the immense success of the murderous asymmetrical multiplayer game has enticed many popular horror franchises to join in the slaughter. Among Dead by Daylight's more popular crossovers was the recently removed Stranger Things content, which Dead by Daylight fans are currently petitioning for its return.

In Dead by Daylight, players assume the role of a bloodthirsty killer or one of its four potential victims that must attempt to escape the area. This simplistic yet hectic style of play has led to over 50 million players partaking in the online carnage, along with multiple guest appearances from popular horror icons across entertainment media. These crossovers have helped pad Dead by Daylight's roster of unique characters with famous horror icons like Michael Meters, Freddy Krueger, Jill Valentine, and Ash Williams, to name a few.

Developer Behaviour Interactive confirmed via the official Dead by Daylight Twitter account that its next crossover is with the critically acclaimed anime Attack on Titan. A few months back, Behaviour Interactive teased the collaboration of Dead by Daylight with Attack on Titan during its sixth-anniversary livestream. With this image of the monstrous Armored Titan glaring above the official crossover logo, Behaviour Interactive has officially confirmed that the wait is almost over. Earlier this week, the official Twitter teased a set of cosmetic charms resembling the Attack on Titan regiment crests players can acquire during the event. Beyond the crests, players will also be able to purchase costumes from the new Attack on Titan collection. The only available information regarding these costumes is an artist rendering showcasing Dwight as Erin Yaeger, Zarina as Hange Zoe, and the fearsome killer Oni as the Armored Titan. It’s unknown whether there will be more costumes or more content beyond cosmetics, but Dead by Daylight players won’t have to wait long to find out.

Having collaborated earlier in the year with Call of Duty Vanguard, Attack on Titan is no stranger to video game crossovers. However, its partnership with Dead by Daylight will mark the first time the horror game has featured an anime franchise alongside its illustrious horror colleagues. In many ways, this crossover is a deviation from the norm since Attack on Titan is considered dark fantasy or action rather than horror. While there are many popular horror manga and anime, Attack on Titan's story of survival in a brutal dystopian world at the mercy of horrific Titans is more than suited for Dead by Daylight's equally ferocious game of cat and mouse.

With the celebration of Dead by Daylight’s sixth anniversary and the Attack on Titan anime amid its final season, this crossover couldn’t have come at a better time for fans. While it may be a bit much to assume players will be able to control a massive Titan in Dead by Daylight, it will be interesting to see if Behaviour Interactive has anything more planned for its Attack on Titan crossover outside of cosmetics. One thing is for certain, as long as Dead by Daylight continues its success, more popular franchises will inevitably find their way into the Entity's Trials.
