SPOILERS ahead for DC Mech #3!

There is a new version of Darkseid wrecking havoc on the DC Universe, and he has pretty much become their version of a Death Star.

In a reimagined version of the DC Universe, gigantic parademons invaded Earth and nearly killed the JSA. In response, Earth's heroes began building giant mechanized suits to counter the threat if it ever returned. There are mechanized versions of Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and, of course, Batman. However, a mechanized suit version of Superman left Krypton as the planet was about to explode. He was headed to Earth to stop Darkseid from destroying that planet the same way he destroyed Krypton.

In DC Mech #3 by Kenny Porter and Baldemar Rivas, this universe's version of Lex Luthor decided to take a preemptive measure and attack Darkseid's forces directly. As the soldiers there were under heavy fire, the Justice League leaped into action to try and save them. Even with Batman and Superman bitterly arguing with each other, things were going relatively well for the heroes until Darkseid struck. From the safety of Apokolips, he got into a machine that looked like a giant cannon and placed his eyes into it. He then fired an extremely strong version of his Omega Beams across the galaxy and blasted Superman.

Darkseid's Omega Beams Get A Serious Upgrade

By themselves, Darkseid's Omega Beams are insanely strong and are known for doing tremendous damage. But this version of the attack is on a whole other level. He fired them from the other side of space, completely out of range of any attack the Justice League could have launched against him. They were also much stronger and larger. It would be crazy to see what might happen if he used them against something like a large ship or even a planet itself. This ability to fire from ridiculous distances with incredible strength is eerily similar to a Death Star.

What's crazy about this new weapon is that the gigantic cannon is not really the weapon itself, Darkseid is. He is the one placing his eyes into the machine and firing through it. The machine is only amplifying and channeling his power. That alone must mean that Darkseid is generating an immense amount of energy in order for it to be utilized in this way. After Superman was struck, his machine looks to be in ruins. It's unclear whether it could be repaired or if he would have to build a new one with the Kents' help in order to get back into the fight. Either way, it's hard to imagine what he and the other Justice League members might do in order to stop this incredibly strong Darkseid.
