A new piece of fan artwork shows Chris Hemsworth as the DCEU Superman. Thor and Superman have both been mainstream superheroes for decades, with the Man of Steel dating back to 1938 and the God of Thunder making his debut over 20 years later. As if people weren't familiar with the characters before, their film appearances in the last decade have ensured everyone knows exactly who they are.

Hemsworth made his debut as Thor in the character's first solo movie back in 2011. Thor had a big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by becoming one of the six original Avengers, as well as returning for a total of six movies after his debut. There have been a few different versions of Superman in the last decade, but the most well-known is probably Henry Cavill, who made his DCEU debut in Man of Steel in 2013. Cavill has had a rougher time in his superhero role compared to Hemsworth, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League both getting mixed to negative reviews. The actors have become known for their superhero roles, but what if Hemsworth took over the role of Superman?

New artwork from Apexform imagines what Hemsworth could look like as the Man of Steel. Hemsworth can be seen in the artwork wearing Cavill's Superman suit, with the Superman statue from Batman v Superman appearing in the background. Apexform's original tweet can be seen below:

While both actors have become known for their roles, the possibility of their characters' returns differ. Hemsworth is confirmed to return in Thor: Love and Thunder in 2021, and Thor might team up with the Guardians in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. While Hemsworth could keep returning as Thor for years to come, Cavill's fate as Superman is currently unknown. As mentioned above, the poor critical reception of Justice League forced Warner Bros. to rethink their strategy with DC films, which resulted in them not solely focusing on building a cinematic universe like Marvel. Man of Steel 2 is still unconfirmed at this point, and with Robert Pattinson replacing Ben Affleck as Batman, its possible Warner Bros. could recast Superman as well. That being said, Cavill still wants to return as Superman.

With it being possible that Cavill's time as Superman is up, fans have already started to wonder who could replace him as the Man of Steel. With all the actors to choose from, Warner Bros. picking Hemsworth would be unlikely. Hemsworth is still committed to Marvel at this point, and he is too recognizable as Thor to be given an even bigger role in the DCEU. With all that in mind, it doesn't make the above fan art any less entertaining.
