With the DCEU kicking off The Flash film franchise, DC Films should tackle DC's Flash Family differently from the Arrowverse by utilizing the Multiverse aspect. Barry Allen has been running for seven years on The CW's The Flash as the Arrowverse drama has also introduced several iconic speedsters and villains along the way. While The Flash season 8 is a go for next year, Grant Gustin won't be the only actor representing the Scarlet Speedster in live-action. After years of development, Ezra Miller's Flash solo movie is on its way, which will be loosely based on DC's Flashpoint. While that will be the first installment, if The Flash is successful, it will be the beginning of a franchise that will possibly even include various members of the Flash Family.

The Flash movie will also star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, who is connected to several speedsters in the Flash Family. While it's inevitable that Miller and Gustin's respective versions will have some similarities, whether it be costumes, backstories, or supporting characters. Nevertheless, the DCEU may bring in speedsters like Wally West, Bart Allen, Jesse Quick, Jay Garrick, and many more down the line. While The CW has portrayed most of the Flash Family, the DCEU could take a different approach to them when Barry gets further into his heroic journey.

Through The Flash's run on The CW, they have established most of Barry's extended family as coming from Earth-Prime. In some cases, they have heroes like Jesse and Jay who come from Earth-2 and Earth-3, respectively, being Flashes on their world before Crisis on Infinite Earths rebooted the Multiverse. While the Arrowverse has explored the concept of having other members originate from alternative Earths, The Flash movie should take it a step further. The DCEU's Flash Family could utilize the idea of having the other speedsters come from a different Earth each, fleshing out the Multiverse in a unique way from the TV show.

Ezra Miller and Grant Gustin as The Flash on Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Not only does that allow DCEU's Flash to be more distinct from the Arrowverse counterpart, but it can open the door to see alternative Earths from the cinematic perspective. What could a world look like with DCEU's version of Kid Flash as its heroic speedster? Warner Bros. is clear in wanting to lean into the Multiverse through their films, specifically with The Flash. Future sequels could do that while also letting the Flash Family be a crucial component to it. That isn't to say they couldn't nor shouldn't have characters like Wally or Bart be on the same Earth as Miller's Barry.

But having all of them as speedsters from separate worlds in the DCEU helps the franchise set itself apart from The Flash TV show. This would benefit the idea of a Flash Family to connect to each other, but through the Multiverse, creating a bond between multiple Earths. But since Miller's film will be the first time they explore the Multiverse cinematically, the foundation of a Flash Family is probably many years away. If they wanted to, it could also be a way to make Gustin's iteration part of Miller's franchise since they met each other during Crisis on Infinite Earths. Whether it would happen on The Flash TV show or the movie, the possibility does exist.
