The DCEU has reset since Zack Snyder was in charge of its direction. After Snyder left following Justice League, the DCEU has changed focus and has started building individualized stories rather than tying everything together. However, even before Snyder left, there were some inspiring and impressive performances.

The DCEU started with Man of Steel and has nine movies in its franchise to date, with Wonder Woman 1984 as the most recent. This does not include Joker. Walter Hamada, President of DC Films, said the Joker movie takes place on a different Earth separate from the DCEU, so Joaquin Phoenix's performance isn't included here.

Ezra Miller, Flash

Out of everyone to appear in the DCEU, Ezra Miller faced the biggest uphill climb. This is because Grant Gustin was already a beloved Flash on TV in the Arrowverse, so everything Ezra did was compared to his version.

However, Miller was able to hold his own and make Flash a dynamic character in Justice League. He was a little more like Wally West than Barry Allen, but he took the insecurities and lack of experience and used it to make Flash one of the most endearing characters in that DCEU movie.

Patrick Wilson, Orm

There were not many great villains in the DCEU. Many were one-dimensional (Doomsday), too strange (Lex Luthor), or lackluster (Ares). However, Aquaman created a villain that could have fallen short if not for Patrick Wilson's performance.

While not up to the level of Tom Hiddleston's Loki, Orm was still the brother who lived in the shadow of his more heroic sibling and overcompensated to make up for it. Orm was a true villain, but the performance offered a level of sympathy at the end the character maybe didn't deserve.

Jay Hernandez, El Diablo

With fire from his hand, El Diablo kills his family in Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad had some great characters in a movie that had no real meat on its bones. Basically, a one-act action movie, Suicide Squad, found itself carried by its stars, including Will Smith and Jai Courtney, who both turned in fun performances.

However, Jay Hernandez ended up turning in a performance that left the relatively unknown El Diablo as the most tragic character in the movie. What he did was small and nuanced but great overall in an otherwise overblown movie.

Ewan McGregor, Black Mask

Ewan McGregor is one of the best actors working today and is ready to return to the Star Wars world to take on Obi-Wan Kenobi's role once again. However, he is someone who has no problem taking on a larger-than-life role and then driving it all the way over the edge.

McGregor did that in Birds of Prey as villain Black Mask. He was over-the-top in all the best ways and stole every single scene he was in. He was someone audiences hated but couldn't take their eyes off of, and Birds of Prey proved how talented McGregor really is.

Zachary Levi, Shazam

Truth be told, Zachary Levi had a tough job in Shazam!. He had to take on a superhero role but play the hero like he was a teenage boy. Luckily for the DCEU, this is Zachary Levi, a guy who was already a huge geek favorite thanks to his comedic action television role in Chuck.

Levi had no problem making Shazam not only a character that people could get behind, but they also made him sympathetic because he was a kid in the body of a grownup, and Levi is the reason it worked as well as it did.

Margot Robbie, Harley Quinn

When Margot Robbie took on Harley Quinn's role in Suicide Squad, she completely owned that character. With Birds of Prey, she made some tweaks and made it even better than the first time.

Robbie is Harley Quinn in her performances, and even with great actors surrounding her in Will Smith and Ewan McGregor, she commands the screen when she is in a scene. Robbie is a major star, and she should be allowed to play Harley for as long as she wants.

Ben Affleck, Batman

There were many doubters when Warner Bros. cast Ben Affleck to play Bruce Wayne/Batman. He had already struggled at the box office when he played Daredevil for Marvel, and now he was taking on the biggest name in DC Comics, following the great performance by Christian Bale.

Luckily, Affleck was up for the task. His Bruce Wayne was arguably the best, and his Batman is up there with Bale and Michael Keaton when it comes to commanding the screen. He even shined when taking part in otherwise polarizing scenes in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Henry Cavill, Superman

Henry Cavill was the man who kickstarted Zack Snyder's DCEU and took on the difficult task of bringing Superman back to the big screen. What he did was impressive.

In Man of Steel, Cavill was able to take Clark Kent and deliver a nuanced performance that showed self-doubt and insecurities to a character that was otherwise a perfect superhero. He struggled a little later in Batman V. Superman and Justice League when he was asked to go darker, but he was still a perfect Superman at the end of the day.

Jason Momoa, Aquaman

Momoa Aquaman

It wasn't easy to bring Aquaman to the big screen. For the last four decades, mainstream America has considered Aquaman as a joke. From his days in the '70s as the superhero who talked to fish to becoming a punchline in Robot Chicken and Teen Titans Go, people who don't read comics had no idea who powerful he is.

No one can make fun of Jason Momoa after he came in and reinvented Aquaman, changed everything about him, and made the King of Atlantis cool for the first time. Momoa is the reason Aquaman was a huge success at the box office.

Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot is not the best actor in the DCEU. However, she brought the perfect Wonder Woman to the big screen.

In Wonder Woman, she instantly created the best superhero in the entire DC Universe; a woman who protects those in need and does so for no reason other than her selfless and heroic nature. In Wonder Woman 1984, she won her final battle by reaching out to the hearts of humanity. Gal Gadot is the reason that Wonder Woman is the perfect DCEU hero.
