In honor of Star Wars day, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder shared a picture of Ben Affleck's Batman with a double-bladed lightsaber. Yesterday, May 4, marked the annual day of celebration for Star Wars fans, so named because of the phrase "May the Fourth" and how it sounds similar to "May the Force." This year's Star Wars Day brought a flurry of excitement for the fandom, largely because of the announcement that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is officially directing the next film in the franchise. While Waititi's involvement had been rumored for some time, it was only made official yesterday.

Recently, Batman v Superman fans got their own day to celebrate when the film's fourth anniversary rolled around. On that day, Snyder participated in a live commentary for Batman v Superman, where he shared all kinds of new information. From clarifying the film's controversial "Martha" moment to giving some insight about how Superman (Henry Cavill) appeared during his brutal fight with Batman, fans were thrilled with all the tidbits he revealed. When it came to the Caped Crusader, Snyder also seemed to poke fun at the controversy that arose over Batman killing some bad guys.

Snyder got in on the Star Wars Day fun yesterday by posting this picture of Batman armed with a lightsaber. It's hard to get an up-close look at him, but the glow surrounding the lightsaber is enough to indicate what he's holding. It's also not the only Star Wars Easter egg in the photo. See it for yourself down below:

Snyder was far from the only director to acknowledge Star Wars Day, as several did so yesterday. Robert Rodriguez, who helmed an episode for The Mandalorian season 2, shared a picture of himself and Baby Yoda. Additionally, the fun continued on Disney+, where Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker made its streaming debut months ahead of schedule.

In response to Snyder's photo, some fans indicated they'd like to see him direct a Star Wars movie someday. However, most of Snyder's attention these days seems to be focused on his famed cut of Justice League, which fans are still campaigning for years after the original film's release. Snyder continues to post images from his cut of the film, further stoking fan excitement. For the time being, the Snyder Cut of Justice League remains under lock and key. At least fans have Batman v Superman, a movie that has seen its reputation improve somewhat over the years. It's just a bummer that it doesn't include any lightsabers.
