WARNING! Spoilers for DCeased: Dead Planet #3 by Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, Gigi Baldassini, and Rain Beredo, out now!

During DCeased: Dead PlanetShadowpact discovers a place called the Southern Bunker which is ruled by rich former DC villains. To make matters worse, John Constantine is reacquainted with an old magical associate who informs him that Trigon is on his way, with orders from Hell to destroy everything.

In the series taking place five years in the future, Earth's survivors of the Anti-Life Infection are informed by Swamp Thing of a hidden sanctuary in Australia. Losing members to an undead Plastic Man, Constantine, Zatanna, Detective Chimp, and Swamp Thing discovers the sanctuary is a secret bunker built by the rich who impose a class system deemed necessary for survival. Disgusted to see Oswald Cobblepott and Maxwell Lord in charge, John Constantine is reacquainted with the Southern Bunker's resident magician Jason Blood who pulls him aside before transforming in his other half, the rhyming  Demon Etrigan.

Honoring John's request to skip his usual rhyming, Etrigan informs Constantine that Hell is not happy with this near-apocalypse due to the fact that Anti-Living retains their souls when they "die". Frustrated at this loss, Hell has selected Trigon, a powerful and sadistic demon from another dimension, to wipe it all away. Etrigan clarifies that Trigon intends to destroy this world and that nothing can stop him which Constantine brushes off as the kind of end-of-the-world warnings they've proved wrong in the past.

Trigo as seen in DC Comics

Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, Trigon is a powerful and sadistic demon who holds dominion over millions of worlds in his dimension. His attempts at adding Earth to his list has been constantly opposed by the mystical people of Azarath, who may have had a hand in his creation, and his daughter, the superhero known as Raven. Resisting the demonic powers she inherited from her father, Raven sought help from the Justice Leauge and later reformed the Teen Titans to stop the arrival of her father. Despite being outmatched, the Titans have repeatedly defeated Trigon and his allies throughout the years and his infamous reputation is known throughout the magical and supernatural world.

Considering that we have yet to see or learn Raven's fate in the DCeased series is reason for concern since she had proved to be pivotal in defeating Trigon in the past. Without her, Constantine and the other Earth heroes may have to get creative in dealing with another world-ending threat on top of the millions of Anti-Living hosts still roaming the planet. Considering the events of this book pave the way for the upcoming "Earth War" story-line, it'll be interesting to see how Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, and their collaborators use Trigon who seeks to ensure Hell on Earth when it's already halfway there.
