An epic new DC Comics Trinity is officially replacing Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in the alternate DCeased Earth. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman have come to be known as the three pillars of DC for years. They're the heroes who are most iconic to the DC Comics brand and will continue to have new stories about them for decades to come. However, after the events of the first two DCeased stories, a new Trinity is beginning to form as revealed by an all-new preview from San Diego Comic Con 2022!
DCeased: War of the Undead Gods by Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine is going to be the final entry of the zombie apocalyptic tale in the DC Universe, with SDCC showing the remaining heroes facing the final zombie villains in a massive preview. Set at a point after the second entry, DCeased: Dead Planet, the world has officially been cured of the Anti-Life Apocalypse with some notable heroes making a return after being zombified. However, things aren't as peaceful as they appear as the final threat to their Earth arrives: Darkseid. Originally the Patient Zero who began the massive infection, he's back and teamed up with a couple other villains whom he's infected, including notorious Superman foe Brainiac and his army. The thing they don't realize though is what's waiting for them when they arrive on Earth.
Jonathan Kent, Damian Wayne and Cassie Sandsmark are officially being touted as the newest Trinity that is set to take on zombie Darkseid in an epic battle in this final chapter. They will all be taking the mantle for their family and mentors now that they have either died during the initial outbreak or are slowly recovering from the cure. With each hero donning the name Superman, Batman and Wonder Girl respectively; it's certainly looking to be a battle for the ages. Based on first looks from the preview, all three heroes seem to fit into the super suits like a glove. Jonathan Kent looks just as heroic as his father, Superman, just like he does in his own comic series in the mainline DC Universe. Damian Wayne, after losing his father to the infection in the very first miniseries, has clearly grown into his own and learned everything it means to be the Caped Crusader, including that just being Batman is a super power. Cassie Sandsmark is an Amazonian in the making with her confidence and amazing new look. Together, they're the new trinity in the DCeased universe, and they look like they'll be ready to lead the attack when Darkseid comes to destroy Earth and risk reinfecting the world.
With the end to the DCeased trilogy set to arrive on August 9, fans have plenty of time to prepare by revisiting the events that led up to this point. The DCeased series has been heralded as one of the best alternate stories in the DC Universe with its unique take on zombies that pits fan-favorite heroes against the undead, or "Anti-Living" as they're called. All good things must come to an end though, and it looks like DCeased: War of the Undead Gods will be a pitch perfect conclusion as teased by writer Tom Taylor. With the combined forces of Jonathan Kent, Damian Wayne and Cassie Sandsmark as the new Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman; this new DC Comics Trinity is sure to end things with a bang and rise up as their Earth's new iconic heroes.
