Warning: SPOILERS for DCeased: Unkillables #2

With the world ending around them and DC's biggest heroes fleeing Earth for another planet, those left behind will have to work together. Remaining heroes and villains are each other's last resorts in DCeased: Unkillables #2 - leading to a number of unlikely partnerships, which go from surprisingly harmonious to deadly.

DCeased: Unkillables by Tom Taylor and Karl Mostert is the companion series to Taylor's and Trevor Hairsine's DCeasedIn the original arc, a virus created from the Anti-Life Equation called the Anti-Life Virus quickly spreads across the DC Universe, leading to many DC heroes and villains turning into the Anti-Life. At the end of the series, the survivors leave Earth and find refuge on another planet. However, DCeased: Unkillables follows the perspective of a few remaining heroes and villains who weren't so lucky to get away from the madness.

DCeased: Unkillables #2 continues to show Jim Gordon, Jason Todd and Cassandra Cain protect a group of surviving children. In Ball's Pyramid, Lady Shiva and Mirror Master use a mirror to find Shiva's daughter, Cassandra. Shiva spars with Cassandra and Jason, but ultimately returns to the villain hideout once her pleas for her daughter to join her are rebuffed. On Vandal Savage's hideout, it's revealed he's captured the Creeper and Deathstroke, who are both immune to the virus thanks to their healing factors, to experiment on them. Thankfully, Rose manages to break Deathstroke free just as a zombified Wonder Woman shows up and rips Savage into pieces. The rest of the heroes travel via Mirror Master to where the heroes and surviving children are staying.

Surprisingly, the heroes and villains make the best of the situation. Deathstroke agrees to train the children to build his own army - despite Gordon's initial protests. After getting rid of the Anti-Life (including Billy Baston) locked away, the training session begins. Shiva and Cassandra teach hand-to-hand combat, Deadshot trains the kids in marksmanship, the Creeper teaches how to behead the undead, and Bane teaches them about how civilization's can be their own worst enemy. Over time, the kids grow attached to their new family - with Grundy getting hugs from kids and Cheetah getting pets for being a good teacher.

Unfortunately, rarely does happiness last in the apocalypse. The Anti-Life version of Mirror Master returns and infects Bane, while Deadshot gets killed after being dragged through a broken mirror. Bane breaks down the walls surrounding the hideout, leading to an army of the Anti-Life right to where everyone is hiding. While it's a bloodbath, if the heroes and survivors want to continue to survive, they'll need to keep working together - regardless of who starts to turn around them. DCeased: Unkillables #2 is in stores now.
